How to Get Screwed: Pay for the Machine...

Remember when they gave you a phone as long as you signed up with their phone plan?

Yeah, it's like that. I know a guy who builds and gives away gas stations. I mean give flat out, or gives at bare cost, as long as he gets the fuel rights. Are we starting to get the lay of the land?

Most any group will give you a credit card machine if you use their merchant account, and I am not talking about Stripe, Square, or PayPal through-the-roof fees, I mean a decent rate. Really. It's bad enough to buy a machine, but a lot of people pay a LEASE. You should spit out the bad taste that leaves in your mouth from even saying it out loud.

People will pay $30, $45, $52, and more a month for three years on a machine that would cost $180 brand new. Then at the end of the lease (spit, yuck...), they can buy the $180 machine they've spent $2-3,000 for another $1800. Yeah.

Don't get screwed. Ask for the machine for free. If you do $1,000-2,000 a month in sales, it's worth their while. If not, they can generally build a small fee in to cover it while you build up to that level. Seriously...
