How to get out of rat race

How can I get out of this rat race or What is my purpose / calling / career / life?

It’s a common question many of us ask at some point in our lives.

Sometimes right now you may be at a cross road in your life and need to make a decision that will affect not only you, but your family also, and in a major way. May be it is a decision regarding your job or your education or the place where you should live or the right marriage partner.

In this simple note, let me share how I overcame the life rat race to create my freedom, take control back & experience unspeakable joy. To be honest it wasn’t a joy ride, it was more of a roller coaster ride for 40 years ( 1981-2021, now you can calculate my age ?? ).

In this cluttered world with flooded information, many people live in someone else’s plan. Many seek something missing in their lives in the information available to them. But many forget, the truth is inside them. Many tried to reach out to the world, more than reaching into themselves. If you start an inside-out journey I’m sure you will understand what I say. It is the best investment you can do for yourself.

That’s what I did. I went into my life to find freedom, rather listening to everyone outside. It worked for me.

Step 1: Be true to yourself.

Ask yourself,

• what I really want / need / desire?
• what I love to do?
• what I can do?
• what the world need?

Note: If you are married then no longer I. It's family. Replace "I" with "my family"

Step 2: Take control back.

Most people do not know how to take charge of their lives. If you do not take control of your life and leave it to others – parents, partner (spouse), your boss, the organization your serve, government, faith circle etc They will control your life.

Unfortunately, you will not go where you want to go, and what you want to achieve in life. After all, if you are someone like that, not working to realize your own dreams, you’re most likely working to achieve someone else’s.

Step 3: Set Goals in life.

I have understood that there are 5 important F’s in life. Finance, Faith, Family, Fitness, Friends.

Start planning your F’s. Be brutally honest with it.

Step 4: Start Now.

Dreams without actions are just wishes. Desires without real actions will not bring you results. So start crafting your future & start the journey today. If I could do (coming from a financially poor family), you can do better than how I did.

For results: Dream x Action = Results

For higher results: Action x Love = Results

I'm sure with above 4 simple steps, anyone can start the journey to achieve what they really dream for. It is not magic. It is not luck. It is taking responsibility for your success and discovering how you are wired and what you are for.

Special Note: Though my journey was not that smooth, my discovering process was the easiest. I was blessed to discover my true path after I accepted Jesus Christ as my Master, Lord & Saviour on 21st Aug 2010 (age 29). Ultimately my source of dependence became Him.

For a person like me who had faith only on skills & hard work (not on miracles or any person), my life took a U turn. From that day onwards my life was easy with different experiences. This may sound silly to you, but for me it was the most priceless experience and I’m reaping benefits now in my family & work.

I call it – Discovering God’s Will. I believe, that the God I worship is the God, who created my life. He is the one who set my purpose. So He is the only one who can tell - Who I Am and for What I was Created For. From being a self-driven successful person for more than a decade, I was completely healed from my past & completely turned into a purpose-driven God dependent, abundant living.

So my self-discovering journey (Will of God) was the easiest task in the world – and the hardest too. It is the easiest because clear guidelines are laid down in the Holy Bible which, if we follow them, help us in our decision-making; and it is the hardest because attention to those guidelines can be costly in terms of time, dedication, dependence, commitment and self-discipline.?

It's more than living / surviving / thriving now. It's Joyful living. Biblical joy is an incredible free gift that we receive when we seek God's will in our daily lives.
