How Not to Get Rejected at a New Job

But also how to fit in with your unique personality
“Joining a new company is akin to an organ transplant—and you’re the new organ. If you’re not thoughtful in adapting to the new situation, you could end up being attacked by the organizational immune system and rejected.” -Michael D. Watkins (The First 90 Days)
A Company’s highest priority is to protect themselves. If you are a part of that company, they will include you in the zone of protection, so long as you are a net benefit. Make a big enough mistake and they can’t or won’t help you.
Figuring out Company Culture and adapting to it is the solution to avoid this. Slotting yourself in to a company and figuring out where you fit best and maximizing your zone of genius there will get you way farther than just “working hard”.
The Golden Rule applies here. Treat others how you would want to be treated works wonders. Very few people outwardly show that they actually care for others. So being unique stands to get you promoted by being kind to everyone, promoting others, and helping them solve problems out of their purview.
Until Tomorrow,
