How To Get Recruited

How To Get Recruited

OK so you have been at your out of college job for nearly three years and made a decision that it is time to make a change and move to another company, maybe even a competitor. You saw this job as a stepping stone into your career and now it is time to make that jump. Headhunting is a really powerful recruitment tool and can make any person feel great about themselves when they are discovered and noticed for their talent. Here are some simple steps on how to get recruited:

1.    Stand Out

Make yourself visible. You have to prove how much talent you have in your field and without standing out and making yourself visible it can be wasted for no one to see. Get yourself talking to the right people at the right time, making the best first impressions. Always look to take on responsibility and go the extra mile on projects.  Impress them with your skills, and make them think you are the best out there. Next thing you know, you can have an offer on the table.

2.    Be Productive Online

Make sure you make yourself known online so companies can contact you. One important social media site to keep up with is your LinkedIn Profile. This is where recruiters live and hunt for the next best employee. Make sure to keep it updated with what you have accomplished and what responsibilities you uphold. Make sure you have patience, professionalism and persistence when communicating with recruiters via LinkedIn.

3.    Know Where They Recruit Their Candidates

This is part of your responsibility to know where they recruit from. This is what specific areas of business they are recruiting for, what type of company they recruit from, etc.  "For example, SPANX a women’s shape wear company, recruits from fashion, beauty, athletic, and women’s consumer product companies. They also recruit from other innovators with an understanding eye and appreciation for premium product and consumer connections." (Cosmopolitan.com)

4.    Keep In Contact With Them

The recruiter offers you a position, but it isn’t the one that you were expecting or one that would be a good fit for you. You kindly and respectfully reject it, but don’t let that be the end of your relationship. Somewhere in the next few weeks, month or maybe a year the opportunity could be available or fellow companies can hear about you from connections. Since you kept in contact with the company they will immediately look to you on their list.

If you follow these tips, there is a great chance on getting recruited. Things mentioned above like networking, being productive, staying in constant communication and putting yourself out there is the best way for recruiters to find out about you. The harder you work to excel at what you do, the more the word will get around.
