How to get recommended.

Almost one year ago I was celebrating 6-months as a solopreneur. I embarked on a journey of securing recommended work versus a long, drawn-out RFP processes. My goal was to amplify my LinkedIn so that the perfect client could find me. So I reached out to about 20 professionals, both executives and entrepreneurs, that I'd worked and served with in my previous entrepreneur role. Here's what I said.
You've probably heard me share the reasons why I took my early brand in the route of corporate contracting versus offering services for other small businesses. "You ever see a baby carrying ANOTHER baby?", I'd start confidently, and wait for a 'eyes filled with cuteness overload'?response, and then I'd hit you with the punchline, "yeah, it's real cute until they take a tumble," pause for 'horror face'. "Now both of them are crying and you don't know WHO to pick up first!"? Slight shrug and another pause for last emotional reaction, 'understanding.'
Oh yes, it hit every time.
As I move into 6-full months of solopreneurship I often remind myself of this early start-up story, allowing myself to be retaught those lessons of leveling up a brand, reaching for sturdy projects that can sustain you without overworking your often shaky infrastructure. But there's a few things that are different now.
Firstly, I'm not a 'baby' anymore.? I'm a 2-time start-up founder that has worked to mentor community growth through representation, process, and production over 12-years in San Antonio.
Secondly, my Network's 'newness' has evolved immensely as well.? You've all become highly respected and recognized executives, managers, and founders yourselves. Trendsetters. We've basically grown up together Network!
I've worked alongside you to curate art installations, produce community events, lead entrepreneurs to resources, and activate public health campaigns.
Let's share how our stories intertwine. Please take a moment to provide me a LinkedIn Recommendation or Endorsement.
I'll be more than glad to return the favor.

And do you think it worked?
Nope. Sure didn't. I got absolutely ZERO responses. Bu
t gladly, I didn't take time to internalize the lack of interaction as "maybe I didn't do as good of a job as I thought I did", instead I relearned a valuable lesson, I can try again later!
And this time with a wider net.
