How to "get real" and get more clients in 2023: A Simple 4 Step Framework

READ TIME: 3.6 minutes

It's early morning on New Year's Eve.

My kids and I are gearing up for a day in the snow.?

A lost mitten, not enough diapers, and my 3 year old son didn't get enough peanut butter on his sandwich.

Needless to say it's a bit chaotic in our household at the moment.

ANYWAY...

Let's get on with it so we can hit the ground running this year!

?

How to “get real” and grow your biz in 2023: A simple 4 step framework?

?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard about OpenAI and its implications.

So how will it affect YOUR business?

Don’t worry, I’m not going to bore you with a bunch of AI theories and nonsense.

However, it’s important to note one thing…

The every day Joe now has access to a new technology that can spit out endless amounts of content.

Which means the barrier to entry for becoming visible to YOUR prospects has been lowered.

BUT, that also means that your prospects will be craving “realness” more than ever before.

And this is an opportunity for you to “get real” in 2023 and build a lead-producing asset for years to come.

?

So here’s a simple 4 step framework to put this into effect:

?

1 | Be more human

There’s one thing AI can’t compete with.

Your unique human personality.

So don’t be afraid to show it.

Remember, people buy from people – not companies.

More importantly, they buy from people they know, like and trust.

But it starts with knowing you.

?

And easiest way to get people to know you is to include some humanness in your marketing:

-Use client-success examples

-Include a hilarious guarantee

-Talk about your purpose and why you do your thing

-Paint the picture of what life is like for prospects after using your solution

?

2 | Show up with consistency

This one will be the hardest for most of you.

I predict that 2023 will be a huge breakout year for personal branding.

In fact, I think it will soon become a necessity to have a personal brand in order to sell basically any service in 1-2 years.

So if you haven’t started, start now.

And that means showing up consistently.

?

That can mean:

-Writing a newsletter

-Posting on linkedin

-Running a facebook group

-Podcasting

-Creating TikTok or YouTube videos

…or anything else that consistently gets your personal brand out into the world.

And referrals are the unspoken byproduct of this activity.

Many of your actual clients might never see your content, but they will get referred to you by others who do.

This form of “social selling” is the new way people are making buying decisions.

Don’t be left behind.

?

3 | Lead with value

Besides the obvious, there’s a reason for this that you’re not thinking of that we’ll get into in #4.

But first, I see so many cringy posts and other content that’s ONLY focused on self-promotion.

No education.

No inspiration.

No entertainment.

No value.

Your buyers have been trained for years now to completely skip over that stuff.

The other problem with this content?

It doesn’t create any engagement.

Which limits its reach.

And diminishes trust.

And uncovers no new leads.

It doesn’t work, so stop doing it.

?

For example:

If you’re a Realtor…

DON’T post your “once in a lifetime” listing.

DO post “3 things to look for to get a great deal in this market”

?

If you’re a Mortgage Broker…

DON’T post a boring logo with your “best rates in Orange County” exclamation.

DO post “Your simple checklist to get a great home loan”

?

If you’re a Roofer…

DON’T post your “before and after” image with your phone number to get a free quote.

DO post “4 signs you may need a new roof”

?

You get the point.

And again, this shift in value-led content becomes critical in accomplishing your end goal.

Generating actual new business!

?

4 | Engage your leads

So, you might be saying “how am I getting leads from this?”.

The answer?

They’re all around you.

Anyone and everyone who engages with your value-led content is a lead.

Of course not all of them will directly buy from you, but they have all raised their hand and said “I like you.”

Which means they’re likely willing to talk about you.

And when you start getting dozens, hundreds, thousands, TENS OF THOUSANDS of people talking about you, it becomes extremely hard NOT to get clients.

?

But you need to engage with them:

-Tell them thanks

-Send them a note

-Ask them questions

-Show them more content

-Have them subscribe to your list

All of these actions will build both your personal brand and your warm audience.

And when you have a warm audience, finding leads and closing deals becomes 10x easier.

?

Let’s recap this simple but very effective strategy:

1 | Be more human. Let people see your personality because you’ll get more buyers as a result.

2 | Show up with consistency. Visibility is a necessity and it leads to more trust + referrals.

3 | Lead with value. Promotional stuff doesn’t work and value-filled content creates engagement.

4 | Engage your leads. Take the next logical step and recognize people who recognize your content.

?

I hope that helps give you a solid framework to work within this next year.

And I want to wish each of you an insanely prosperous 2023.

It’s there for the taking, and I’m honored to be even a small part of it alongside you.

Let’s “get real” this year!
