How to get over overwhelm

In today's fast paced society, it is not uncommon for overwhelm to be the norm for most people.?We feel like octopuses on roller skates being pulled in a thousand different directions, exerting ourselves tirelessly but never seeming to get anywhere. With the constant influx of input, our nervous systems are shot, our minds are in incessant overdrive, and despite how hard we grind, we never seem to be able to get ahead of our to do lists and growing demands inherent in modern living.?Most of us are imprisoned by the perception of not having enough time in the day or that we are somehow "behind" in life.?No wonder we are exhausted, burnt out, and need alcohol or meds to escape the suffocating feeling of NOT ENOUGH.?
When our self-worth is tied to our to do lists, we are engaged in a war we cannot win.?There will always be another thing we CAN do, the peak of one mountain is the base of another, that is the nature of life.?The feeling of being or doing enough is transitory at best when we live like this.?The goal posts are always moving and our happiness always seems to be at arm's length, just out of our reach.
The yardstick of success can no longer be outside of us if we ever want to transcend these feelings of scarcity and inadequacy, the bedfellows of overwhelm.?As much as we would like to believe that we are in control of external circumstances, the very fabric of life is uncertainty, and the sooner we can accept and acknowledge this Truth, the sooner we will reclaim our personal power.?Life is going to life, and when it does, not only will it shatter our most bulletproof plans, but it will destroy our self-confidence and internal peace as collateral damage in the process.

If you're ready to escape this merry-go-round of suffering pervading the collective consciousness, it's time to stop your ATTACHMENT to external circumstances and instead focus on being COMMITTED to things within your control, like your perspective, emotional responses, and your actions.?Once you truly understand that you have ZERO control over the outer world and other people's happiness, a wave of relief will wash over you that will feel like the most beautiful exhale of your life. This is Surrender. This is Freedom.?This is the gateway to personal power and unwavering joy.??
This week, I invite you to remove the metaphorical roller skates that are causing you mental and emotional chaos and reconsider how you will measure your self-worth and daily success moving forward. Declare for yourself what "enough" looks like in your day by proactively deciding how you want to feel, envisioning the energy you want to radiate into the world, and then picking the top three things that are most important for YOU to focus on personally and professionally.?This will be a beautiful first step in remembering that you are a sovereign human being and the master of your own life.
Finally, at the end of each day, carve out time to acknowledge yourself for your ways of being and the things you DID accomplish instead of beating yourself up for the things you didn't get done. Overtime, this practice will override our default patterns of negative self-talk and not enoughness and will cultivate a relationship of self-love and appreciation.
