How to get Over the Mountain (feeling) of Writing a Book

How to get Over the Mountain (feeling) of Writing a Book

Writing a book is a monumental task, said one of my clients.

Where do I start, who will publish it? How long will it take?

Relevant questions.

But as we know in many other professions, breaking things down into smaller units makes them manageable, doable and even enjoyable.

If you are wanting to write a book but believe it is too much to take on, you first need to learn and understand how to break down your book ideas into topics, chapters, killer titles and riveting sub headings.

You will be surprised how many words you can write in 30 mins. How stimulating it will be to write once you have your topic identified and clarified it. And, how motivated you will be because you know the direction you are going in.

How to combine Business and Story.

Another client of mine just didn't recognise all the amazing rich stories she had to illuminate the fascinating facts in her book.

We had to mine for the gold to help her recognise how well her experiences illustrated her business ideas. And how many clients of her own who had benefitted from her wealth of knowledge.

This is what I would be exploring and exposing with you.

Firstly, to pinpoint the intriguing facts and fascinating stories. Then to describe concisely the lessons and stories and researching relevant topics to build your expertise.

Marketing Mindset Mastery

If you feel that you will not be able to find an agent or publisher, or that no one will buy or read your book- let me dismiss this myth and inform you that self-publishing today will amaze you. So much has changed in the last 5 years. Let me put your mind at rest. Self publishing is now the number one choice because you retain control of your book.

This is what I would be exploring and exposing with you.

To inform you of the benefits of self-publishing and the fact that when you self-publish a book you retain all the rights and control over all aspects of publication.

  • This means you enjoy bigger royalty percentages per book than with traditional publishing.
  • Creative control on content, layout and cover design
  • Pricing control
  • Impress those who said it would never happen…

Writing a book is not an overnight project and neither is its success.

It is a long term project that brings enormous changes both personal and professional, many of which you cannot forecast or predict at the start.

It does involve time, energy and money. But if you are a top professional, running your own business or heading up a company - you know this is standard for all projects that bring about big changes and rewards.

Writing is a cathartic experience and writing your book will create changes you never imagined or planned.

A great article Georgia Varjas and I love your comments about mining for gold. We so often don't realise that we have all the resources we need right at our fingertips, but it may take you as a mentor, to ask those golden questions to bring that realisation and those stories to the surface

Another great newsletter Georgia Varjas and it lays out the key points that I experienced working with you. If some one has a book idea they should get in touch with you!
