HOW TO GET ORGANIZED BEFORE THE NEW YEAR

Getting organized before the new year is a great way to start fresh and set yourself up for success.

But first, if you are new here, my name is Kelly, and I am obsessed with getting you organized to become your most productive self in both life and business.

Here are some tips to help you get organized...

1. Reflect on the Past Year: Take some time to reflect on the past year. What worked well for you? What didn't? Identify areas where you want to improve and set realistic goals for the coming year.

2. Declutter Your Space: A clutter-free environment can contribute to a clearer mind. Go through your living and workspaces and declutter by getting rid of things you no longer need or use. Donate or discard items that no longer serve a purpose.

3. Create a To-Do List: Start by making a to-do list of tasks you need to accomplish before the new year. Break down larger tasks into smaller, more manageable steps. Prioritize your list to ensure you focus on the most important tasks first. I like to create daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly lists to keep me on my toes throughout the year.

4. Set Goals for the New Year: Define your goals for the coming year. Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). Whether they are related to personal development, career, health, or relationships, having clear goals can give you a sense of direction. I have four categories everything falls under for me. Mind, Body, Business, and Life!

5. Update Your Calendar: Update your calendar for the upcoming year. Mark important dates, deadlines, and events. This can help you stay organized and plan your time effectively. I have been color coding everything since my chemo days. I know that is not for everyone but when you’re looking at a week, month, or year at a glance the colors really come in handy.

6. Digital Organization: Organize your digital files, emails, and apps. Delete unnecessary files, organize folders, and create a system for managing your digital information. This can help improve your productivity and make it easier to find what you need. I have a new episode coming out all about this so stay tuned. Once this bronchitis leaves my system, I will be ready to record it for you.

7. Time Management: Evaluate how you've been spending your time and identify areas where you can be more efficient. Consider using time management techniques, such as the Pomodoro Technique, to help you stay focused and productive. I set alarms in my phone for everything.

8. Financial Review: Review your finances. Create a budget for the new year, and if possible, set up automatic payments for bills. Consider saving for specific goals and review your investments and retirement accounts. My envelope technique of organizing receipts always goes viral around this time. Especially for small business owners looking to find an easier and more efficient way of doing their taxes.

9. Self-Care Plan: Incorporate self-care into your routine. Plan activities that bring you joy and relaxation. This could include exercise, meditation, reading, or spending time with loved ones.

10. Learn a New Skill: Consider learning a new skill that aligns with your goals for the new year. This could be a professional skill, a hobby, or something that contributes to your personal development.

11. Connect with Loved Ones: Before the new year begins, take the time to connect with friends and family. Strengthening your relationships can provide support and encouragement as you move into the next year.

Remember, getting organized is a gradual process, so don't feel overwhelmed. Take small steps each day, and by the time the new year arrives, you'll be well-prepared and ready to tackle your goals. Don’t get overwhelmed either. We all have our own ways of getting organized. The most important part of this journey is for you to feel good doing it. Trial and error. Find a way that feels best for you right now. Clear out that old energy, and bring in the new...
