“How often should I post on my plastic surgery clinic’s blog? Is there a certain number of blog posts that I should have to get the most out of SEO?”
This is something that I see happen over and over again. This is one of the things that you can fix quite often and usually one of the first things that you can fix right away that results in an increase in rankings, traffic and ultimately phone calls.
There used to be this theory in SEO that you just create as much content as possible. For example, you create a 300-word blog post like three times per week and usually it is not a really great blog post, but it is on the website and it has got key words in it which makes you more relevant, right? And that actually did work for a very long time, but in 2014 or 2015, they started realizing that the websites that people were doing this on, were starting to perform more and more poorly.
At that same time, Google added what is called the “panda algorithm” to their main ranking algorithm. Basically, it has to do with the overall quality of your website. So, when they did that, they realized something. If your homepage is great, but that you have 50 really not-so-great blog posts, they found that it made your homepage perform poorly.
So, this is what my colleague did back in the day. He went through every single one of his plastic surgery clinic clients and he did a complete content audit. He pulled up their Google analytics for the entire website for every individual page and he looked at every single blog post and said, “Okay which of these blog posts has not had a single organic visit in the last 3 months?”
Anything that did not have an organic visit in the last 3 months, he added it to another blog post where it made sense to add it and one that was actually getting traffic. The result across the board was website traffic, phone calls, everything just completely skyrocketed. Ranking skyrocketed as well.
What that taught us is that Google is looking for websites that have high quality content. They are looking for smaller websites with high quality content. So, the answer to “How often should I post my plastic surgery clinic’s blog?” and “Is there a certain number of blog posts that I should create?”
Well, it is not the number, it is the quality issue. If you can create very high-quality blog posts that are probably the best posts on the topic, then create as many as you can! Don't create low-quality blog posts just for the sake of creating blog posts because ultimately, that will hurt you in the end.
The correct answer is “quality over quantity”.
One great blog post is worth a 100 of these not-so-great blog posts. Actually, even more because those not-so-great blog posts could hurt your website in the long run. So, just focus on the quality of your plastic surgery clinic blogs. Do as many as you can where you can ensure that the quality is extremely high. That is the answer to how many blog posts and how often should you create blog posts for your plastic surgery clinic website.
