How to get the most out of your mental health initiatives

If you're in charge of the mental health aspect in your organisation, you’re probably involved in your workplace awareness days.?

With Mental Health Awareness week coming up in May, you may already be thinking about how you can focus on the theme of loneliness and put a unique spin on the day.

You are amazing!?

You guys are the passionate foot soldiers for change!?

AND…

I’ve seen well-meaning people get a bit stuck.?

We can feel stuck in the crisis end, waiting for people with problems to trust us, to tell us their life story, to feel purposeful in putting our own stories to good use, expecting the awareness day to be the big thing and then to wait amidst your busy schedules,?for people to come to you...

How can we make these awareness days really count?

How can we STEP UP, model bravery and truly show people what a mentally healthy culture looks like all year??

Here’s a few ideas:

?? Align with other groups in your business — we’re all on the same side!?

?? Connect to whoever is leading on Wellbeing Strategy and make sure what you’re doing is aligned (if you don’t have a strategy, hit me up, let's talk!)?

?? Model the behaviours connected to a healthy culture: Vulnerability, Bravery and Openness. You don’t need an awareness day to be proactive and go to real-talk places at work!?
