How to Get the Most From 2020

Have you achieved everything you wanted to achieve this year?

It's a question that some may find difficult to answer. Approaching a new year provides an opportunity for both self-reflection and reflection on business performance.

  • How many new clients did we win/lose
  • What type of clients has contributed to our greatest success?
  • How could we have handled issues better?
  • What changes are we going to make for next year?

Without proper planning, getting stuff done can be the greatest struggle as a business owner.

As a business owner myself and freelancer for businesses across South Hampshire, I have realised the importance to getting stuff done is by putting proper plans in place to help me achieve the things that I want from both life and business.

But planning needn’t be an erroneous task. If structured and organised well you can plan everything you want to achieve before next year has even begun

Here are a few tips to help you get the most from next year and plan effectively for your business.

  • Team Away Days - Gather your team, divert your phones and take a couple of hours away from your usual working environment. Being away from the workplace helps to bring more creative ideas to your planning.
  • Discuss Your Teams Own Individual Plans - Employees are likely to be more motivated if their own career aspirations are met by their employers. By aligning your business goals to their own individual personal goals it could help them to achieve greater productivity. If you don’t have employees; what about sitting down with those whom you care most about and the implications that your business has on them.
  • Share your plan - Transparency and sharing of plans make you accountable to others for achieving those plans. This involves sharing it right through your business from top to bottom. Why not share it with external suppliers you work with. Everyone will want to be aligned with your strategic vision.
  • Review Your Plan - Just because your plan is written up doesn’t mean it’s set in stone. The day to day running of your business may mean you have to change your plans. Constantly review your plan and make it flexible to the changes in your growing business. As your business grows, your aims and objectives will also likely grow too.
