Do you struggle when it comes to getting enough quality protein?
You probably know you should be eating a "high protein diet" if your goal is to be a lean, healthy and athletic individual. But what does that even mean and how do you go about getting enough protein in?
If you want to add as much lean, healthy muscle as possible and get rid of unwanted body fat then the standard recommendation is 1g/lb of bodyweight.
If you're 200lbs that's 200 grams. No need to overcomplicate this.
I used to struggle with knowing what the best protein was, if I should be drinking shakes etc?
It all counts.
Some are "higher quality" than others. For example, animal sources are generally higher in leucine, which is the key amino acid for muscle growth, but you can have a vegan isolate protein to help address this problem.
Here's 4 easy ways to get more protein in
1. Get a source at each meal - It's very easy to get carbs & fats in the modern day, ask yourself every time you eat, where is my protein?
2. Supplement - Using a whey protein supplement is an easy, cheap and convenient way to add 30/40 grams in seconds to your total. For vegans/vegetarians?including an isolate of pea/rice protein can be very effective here?
3. Increase your number of meals/snacks - Adding in another small snack or meal to your day doesn't have to have a load of calories, but can help push your protein totals up. If your goal is fat loss, something like a tuna salad can be a great option!
4. Use leaner cuts of meat - Chicken breast instead f thighs, turkey mince, 5% lean beef, fillet steak

1. Swap cereal for eggs in the morning.
2. Add greek yoghurt in as a snack, and make sure it's the greek variation and not just regular yoghurt.
3. Swap chocolate/candy bars for protein bars.?
