How to Get the Money
Here's to a killer May for all you revenue heroes out there. Q2 is almost done. May the sales gods be good to you.
I'd decided a few months back to move from selling technology to the Fortune 500 to NOT selling ANYTHING to anyone.
But I'm finding that not doing anything is incredibly boring. Like watching paint dry. Grass grow. And I am a lifelong competitor. So just hanging just sucks.
So, I've decided that I'm not going to allow my brain to turn to mush; I'm going to share my knowledge. I'm just a regular guy who's been selling tech (software, Iron, Consulting, etc.) to large corporations for some of the largest vendors in the world for about 35 years. During that time, I've gotten some in-depth exposure to many sectors: Healthcare, Pharma, Utilities, Financial Services, Oil & Gas, and many more. Most of it in and around New York City and, more recently, Southern California. I've often had global responsibilities. Worked in multiple languages and for clients who had incredibly complex deployments. And even bigger challenges that were coming around faster and faster.
I've worked for some of the smartest and toughest companies, politely referred to as gladiator school for those who were in the field.
I began working in the tech biz way back when telecom was considered "tech." Then the internet slammed into the market, and nothing was the same. I remember so clearly that upgrades were life-threatening and often done manually. Remember sneaker-ware, anyone? So I'm going to be pumping out on a fairly regular basis my memories and some, mostly unvarnished opinions about this industry we all love.
So? How to "get the money"?
