How to Get International Clients?

You all have been waiting for this newsletter, right? You all want to know how to get international clients! It's Sunday, and you are here on LinkedIn. Awww moment :D

We all want a client who pays in dollars -- a client who does not ghost you -- a client who pays you a freaking good amount!!?

During my weekly team meeting, I discuss the importance of acquiring a good client. I never talk about international clients or someone who pays in dollars or anything, but a good client. So, what makes someone a good client?

A good client is someone who:

  • Understands that there can be delays in submissions due to human nature
  • Understands that there can be some errors and provides honest feedback on it
  • Understands that there is a life beyond those calls, emails, and submissions
  • Understands that life is unpredictable

When you hunt for clients, remember that they should fit all these criteria. What use of that international client if all they do is provide unnecessary changes? What use those dollars when you realize you do not have the weekend with you to spend them on your family or friends? What use of that freaking amount if you are not enjoying the conversation with them?

Remember, a client is a client, whether national or international. I happen to have some amazing Indian clients who not only pay well but understand that, in the end, I am helping them with their brand and are open to suggestions. I also had a couple of international clients in the past who paid me an amazing amount but made my and my writer's life unbearable.

I know today is Sunday, and the only reason why you are here is to learn how to get international clients and not hear me talk about the pros and cons of different clients. So, I won't waste your time with my TED talk anymore.

But there is one thing I would like to address here. If you are looking for international clients, remember that you will need to up your game!

  • You cannot make silly writing mistakes.
  • You cannot send copy-paste pitches (I get like 10+ copy-paste pitches every day, and I am not even an international client to most of you)
  • You will have to learn how to market your writing.
  • Create a cover letter that sells
  • Create pitching ideas that help your clients solve the problems
  • Create your portfolio that helps them understand what kind of market gap you are fulfilling
  • Create your LinkedIn profile in a way that resonates with their brand's ideology

Once you have mastered all these, there are some places where you can look to get international clients, like:

  • Learn how to cold email correctly: A lot of freelancers I speak to tell me that their email CTOR is way too low. I discuss this cold-emailing during my classes, where I talk about how you have to mail to the correct person, what you have to write, and how you have to write it. If you follow the correct strategy, I am pretty sure that the cold emailing would definitely work for you.
  • LinkedIn Articles: In September, my team acquired three new Chicago-based clients. You know how? Through my LinkedIn posts, newsletters, and sessions. My content speaks about my life, ideology, and how I can help different domains like eCommerce, entertainment, food & health, and such! If you are not using LinkedIn in 2022, my friend, you are missing out on something big!
  • Use Networking: Networking is one of the biggest ways to get some amazing clients. Follow the activities of your dream clients and projects on Twitter and LinkedIn, and then create your content in and around those activities. See what kind of keywords, hashtags, and tags they use- repeat them in your posts! Learn at what hour they post their content -- wake up at that hour and do the same! In a month or two, you will start to see the difference!
  • Become a Consultant: I currently have 27 clients, and I am consulting for seven others! I enjoy creating content for each and every client. But you know what I love more? Get on a weekly call with the seven clients and see how my team and I can help them create wonderful content. I provide consultation for eCommerce, operations, digital marketing, LinkedIn optimization, and more, and as most of you know, I love speaking (a lot), so it works out for me! See if this is something that you can also do :) Bahoot peaceful hota he kisi ki help karna!

Remember, if you are looking for an international client who pays in dollars, you have to become an expert in your field who can demand dollars! So, start practicing every day, learn new things, master your craft, and up your game, and you will see how easily you get some amazing clients.
