Being in Tech / Cyber for over 25+ years, founding a firm, and mentoring hundreds of people over the past few years has allowed me to narrow down the reasons why people seem to have a hard time finding jobs, even in a market that has less than a 1 percent unemployment rate. I've broken it down into 6 things:
? Lack of Visibility to Recruiters
? Overwhelming Job Market
? Uncertainty about Job Search Strategy
? Difficulty Breaking into Cyber Security
? Stale Network and Limited Opportunities
? Lack of Confidence in Job Readiness
How do you overcome these? Sometimes it seems that the odds are stacked against you.
Over the past 3 years, I've been lucky enough to build a great community on multiple platforms. About a year ago, I started wondering if there was a way that I could utilize my network to proactively help people find jobs, besides just mentoring people. People that I've been lucky enough to connect to are team leads, managers, directors, CISOs, CIOs, CEOs, and HR Managers.
I am a true believer in the saying 'Your Network is your Networth". The more people you are in front of, the better chance you have to find opportunity.
I've spent much time looking at other job sites trying to figure out a way for people to find opportunity easier. One thing I noticed is that there are a ton of candidates listed on those sites, but recruiters have to pay to access the talent. To me, pay-walling talent isn't going to put a huge dent into helping people find jobs. It's going to limit the candidates visibility. Let's face it, many organizations don't and won't pay for access, so they are missing talent, and you are missing jobs.
For this reason, I've been working hard to crack the code on actually getting candidates in front of the right people. I started a project months ago based on some ideas I had and my great friend and mentor Zach Hoskins started putting our ideas to action. Together, we have started the Cyber Talent Registry, aka CTR.
If you want to be part of the Cyber Talent Registry, Join Here .
Here is our goal and what it offers:
Our goal is to reverse the typical practice that exists today, which is charging recruiters access to talent and give job seekers an actual chance to get in front of the right people.
Here is what it includes:
? Be placed in the Cyber Talent Registry - have your profile placed directly in front of top recruiters and decision-makers actively seeking qualified, job-ready cybersecurity professionals, significantly boosting your chances of landing your next role faster.
? Proactive Exposure to Tens of Thousands of Decision Makers - Your profile is placed in front of top recruiters, managers, directors, CISOs, CIOs, HR Managers, and CEOs, increasing your chances of landing the perfect role faster.
? Access to my Break in Cyber Playbook - a complete guide on how to gain entry into the Cyber Security industry.

What is our methodology? It's simple:
1?? It's $9/month to be part of the CTR program, which includes all of the above. Yes, there is a cost, but it's literally less than I paid for my wife's Starbuck's coffee and egg sandwich this morning. Our goal was to make this affordable to nearly everyone.
2?? Leveraging our connections, network, and newsletters, which received over 16 Million views in the last year, your profile has the opportunity to be seen by a wide range of hiring decision makers including team leads, managers, directors, CISOs, CIOs, CEOs, and HR Managers.
3?? We will allow free access to the CTR, not charging to access it. Because of this, any company that is looking to fill a position can utilize it.
4?? The Cyber Talent Registry will list the following for you: Job Desired, Certifications/Degree, Years of experience, a place for you to introduce yourself, skills that you have, availability, salary range expectations, and a link to your LinkedIn profile. Your name, phone number, and email address will NOT be on the list because our goal is to help you gain traffic to your LinkedIn profile, so you can truly represent yourself properly. This also prevents spamming.
5?? While you are on the list, you get the following: Curated Jobs emailed to you weekly, a monthly live group call to learn how to accelerate your career, weekly career and job search guidance emailed to you, and your profile having exposure to tens of thousands of people who are involve in hiring.

Our goal is simple. It's to offer you visibility. For years, I have mentored people to teach them how to build a great LinkedIn profile, how to engage, build connections and even teach them a posting strategy. However, most people just don't have the time, so we're leveraging the networks that we have already built to help you gain the visibility.
The Cyber Talent Registry (CTR) is limited to 1,000 people.
We are excited to roll this out in phases. At this time, our offering is only open to 1,000 people. This keeps our list clean, controllable, and allows us to prepare for Phase 2 early next year. The time between Phase 1 and 2 will allow us to develop an even better platform for some other exciting things we are doing.
Summary
People have skills, experience, degrees, certifications, and knowledge. However, they lack the visibility they need. Our goal is to help you gain visibility for less than you'll pay for your next lunch. It's as simple as that.
