How to get found on Linkedin (for Developers) - Part #1

There are lots of things you can do with your Linkedin profile to get found the jobs and more importantly, the right job and to cut down Recruiter spam.

I’ll detail all of the ways I know from my experience as a Recruiter but also from trying different things to get my own profile higher in the search rankings.

Part #1 - Skills Listing

Recruiters have a special Recruiter Licence for Linkedin that allows them to search on the skills you’ve entered onto your profile, so make sure you fill them out.

Tip – include only your most advanced skills along with core programming language, try not to include the older techs so much otherwise you’ll get more offers for outdated jobs with older tech stacks – and the more specific the better i.e. you could put ‘AWS’ alternatively you could be more specific and go for S3 or EC2 and others CloudFormation etc – it often separates the good Recruiters from the bad to be searching for candidates with such terms in their profile.

This is the part of your profile where you can add your skills

Good first tip, I always tell people to put the skills for jobs they want, not jobs they had, otherwise you won't get the right offers.
