How to get a blue tick on Twitter for £6.99 | The Friday Club | Ep 213

How to get a blue tick on Twitter for £6.99 | The Friday Club | Ep 213

It's easy to get a blue tick now...

Unless you've been living under a rock you've probably heard about Elon Musk causing havoc after his acquisition of Twitter.

This week he updated Twitter's premium subscription 'Twitter Blue' to allow all subscribers to get the previously idolised 'blue badge' for just £6.99 per month as part of the subscription.

I think this is a really clever move to drive a huge cash injection to Twitter. 99% of Twitter users wish they had a blue badge to demonstrate 'status' & Elon made it super accesible.

BUT...because it is so easy to get, the credibility of a blue tick will crash & burn soon enough & I think influencers could jump ship to other platforms where their status can be recognised.

WOW. I couldn't write this week's email without focusing on Richard van der Blom's unbelievable LinkedIn algorithm guide he released this week.

Richard & his team analysed over 10,000 posts, put in over 1,200 hours of work & you can tell!

Here are some things that stood out (taken from Richard's LinkedIn Post);

?? less reach for 99,9% of all the users

?? less impact for dwell time, although still important on text posts

?? more content of the same author in your feed

?? two phases where engagement can boost the growth, the first 90 minutes are crucial

?? hashtags between 1 and 10 show almost no difference, we advice 3 - 5

?? negative engagement slows the growth of your reach

?? after publishing a post, stick around to engage yourself in your feed

?? explore Creator Mode, it can help!

?? Newsletters, although huge potential, are down in reach and engagement

?? Engaging Company Pages perform 3x better than those who only publish

?? Use 7 slides for your Document Posts

?? Some formats outperform others, choose wisely

?? Ideal Video length between 20 and 60 seconds, square format

?? Impact of your Social Selling Index (S.S.I.) on reach declined further

?? Reposts and shares bring additional audience to the original post

?? Only 5.2% of all members is publishing content on LinkedIn (increase with 0.4%)

?? Ideal post is 400 characters less compared to 2021

Happy Friday!! ??

It’s devalued the whole experience imo, as seeing the blue tick (which isn’t actually blue) provided a quick visual queue of some elevated status.

Dan Knowlton This is only the beginning. It's not going to stop at the blue tick. There's going to be web3 implementation. He's already on record saying he wants content creators to monetise on the platform, so he'll be introducing some incredible stuff. The blue tick is outdated and it's the beginning of a new Twitter movement. IMO.

If you wanted to neutralise the impact of fake news on a platform that your mate who wants to run as President again has endless lambasted the issue.... well there's no better way to do it than to weaken the credibility of the news orgs through blue tick irrelevance. Now, Clyde the blogger from Ohio has as much surface importance as CNN.
