How to Get Back Time and Freedom

Why is it that so many business owners struggle to find the balance between growth and success in their business but also having time and freedom in their own personal lives?
If you've got a super successful business, it often means that you've got to put in 50/60/70 hours a week and the problem with that is if you've got a family, you're spending hardly any time with them, especially for me, I've got a four-year-old and a three-year-old and I love spending time with them. I adore them. They're what I do everything for. And I want to spend time with my wife and my friends and extended family. So, for me working 50/60/70 hours on an ongoing basis just wasn't an option when they came along, so I had to find a solution.
If you've got the same problem, your business is doing awesome but you just don't have the right balance, it can be a real problem. If you don't take action on this now and do something differently, you're going to either end up having a great business with no family or an amazing family and friends life but a business that isn't growing. If you don't change things and have a system in place, you're going to have to choose one or the other.
I think you can have both.
You can have a great family, tons of friends, loads of free time and work 15 to 20 hours a week but still have an awesome growing business.
What changes did I make in order to make this happen?
I hired a great team that I could leverage my work to. I thought about the structure of my business and I noted down all the things I was doing so that my first hire could be a great executive assistant to help me out. Then I expanded my team and trained them in the areas I wanted to hand over so that they could take over and actually perform better than I ever did.
Then I incorporated a really great system for managing my time, goals and priorities because you just can't get everything done. If you simplify and only have two or three priorities every day, week and quarter, you can actually smash through these and make real progress. You should also have a clear overall vision for your business and a clear structure and system for managing your time.
ACTION - next week I suggest you design the life you want and then put the steps in place to achieve it.
