HOW GENERATIVE AI IS CHANGING THE GAME IN INTEGRATION

Last week I had the pleasure of speaking with Helen Yu all about the power of generative AI in integration as part of her brilliant CXO Spice series.

Helen is the Founder and CEO of Tigon advisory group, an incredibly important tech industry leader and a visionary when it comes to all things AI.

Our discussion was wide-ranging, but here are a few of the main headlines from our conversation.

AI is here to stay. We’re only at the beginning of this new phase. ?

AI has been part of the conversation for a long time, but the power of large language models does represent a game changer for businesses. The amount of data available makes the quality of the insight we can derive absolutely incredible. But only if we can integrate that data effectively – bringing it together from disparate sources to let the AI work its magic.

Key industries are already seeing big benefits.

Industries like manufacturing and energy are already being transformed.

Think about a windfarm which can now stream live data from its assets and use sophisticated algorithms to take care of monitoring, maintenance, and efficiency optimization.

Think of a factory that can use AI to feed performance data into the product development process and completely transform the pace at which innovation can be brought to market.

All this capability is now being placed into the hands of business users on the front line, who can use voice commands to bring their data to life and help them make fast and high quality decisions about where to take their business next.

Think also about a bank using conversational AI to enrich chatbots and bring digital agents to life. The combination of huge datasets, language capability and graphic design are moving customer experiences forward by lightyears.

The real value comes when we enable our customers and enrich our people.

I’m asked a lot about how to measure ROI from new AI technology. This is an important question but I’d encourage business leaders to think about AI as in input first, and think about outcomes later.

If AI is making the experience better for your customers, and making your employees more efficient, productive and satisfied, it’ll deepen your relationships, increase your retention rates and improve your efficiency and productivity. This will lead to great financial outcomes as a matter of course.

Business leaders need to take the initiative.

Business leaders are responsible for helping their teams understand the value of new AI technology and also helping to balance its risks.

We need to think carefully about how fast and how widely we deploy it, how we work with governments to ensure we have regulation that protects us all while encouraging innovation, and how to embed ethics we can be proud of into the technology we build.

It’s an incredibly exciting time and I’m very grateful to Helen for inviting me to join her.
