How to Generate Consistent Leads on Social Media

Not sure where to begin when it comes to marketing on social media? Aren't ready for paid advertising? Have no fear, you can grow your online presence and begin to generate leads online for free with just a few simple steps.

Here is the formula I used to turn my social media pages into lead producing machines.

  1. Brand yourself, not your company or products - Clean up your social media profile, have a professional profile picture. I suggest a head shot only. Do not include your company, your product, your animals, your kids. While we all love to see your animals and children, they don't belong in your profile picture if you are using social media as a business platform.
  2. Know your target audience - When you market to everyone, you market to no one. Know exactly who your target is and avoid mixing multiple targets on a single page. This is confusing to the person you are trying to attract. For example: Travel MLM is actually 2 different markets, travel and MLM. Speak clearly to your target so that they fully recognize that you are speaking to them.
  3. Create value through your content - people come to social media to be educated, entertained or inspired. Be intentional about every piece of content you produce. Ensure that it meets one of these 3 criteria. Speak to your target audience through your content. Find their pain and solve their problems. What keeps them up at night? How can you help them?
  4. Actively prospect - Create a plan for social media prospecting. Your content is considered passive marketing but it is not enough on its own to generate a steady flow of leads. You need to engage with new prospects on a daily basis. Begin to 'hang out' in places where your target audience congregates and initiate conversations. Find people who share your similar beliefs, ones that meet the criteria of target market. Invite them to your social media pages where they can get to know, like and trust you.
  5. Follow-up - You've heard it before, the fortune is in the follow up. This is where most marketers online and offline struggle. If you can master this, you will significantly increase your chances of success. Create a spreadsheet to track your active prospecting activities. I track, Date, Name, Response, Outcome. 4 simple columns. This allows me to see who is responding and easily follow up.

By implementing these 5 simple steps into your daily routine, you will begin to attract your target audience in droves.
