....and where is the part about Gen Z understanding that the world of work is about an exchange? In exchange for the salary and benefits offered, employees are required to deliver objectives and outcomes. The above analysis may be 100% correct based on the authors' experiences but we're just not seeing any thinking or learning being shared that accepts that employment is a two-way street. Where is the thinking about commitment to deliver for the salary? Where is the understanding that no organisation can develop every staff member to be a chief executive and still actually get the day to day delivery done? While everyone is working remotely on their phones at 3 am and attending L&D courses to ensure personal growth, who is packing the cakes into the boxes on the production line? I'd love to see some views from Gen Z employees on how they feel their needs can be met in environments outside of tech and white-collar roles.
