On May 25, 2018, the EU will pass the strictest set of data privacy regulations on the books—the General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR.

With high-profile brands like Equifax and Facebook recently losing respect—and business—from external breaches or internal mishandling of consumer data, you’d think more noise would be made about the upcoming changes. Yet many American businesses seem to think these new regulations won’t impact them.
