How to gain greater freedom at work and with everything your life touches on

If you've known me for a while, you know that everything I do is in the service of freedom. Freedom is a big topic for me... and so is transformation.

Transformation isn’t about becoming someone new, or becoming someone or something you are not.

The transformation you want to strive for is focused on uncovering who you already are and to emphasize everything that flows into the best version of yourself… for your own benefit and for the benefit of the world you live in: your family and friends, your workplace, your business partners, your clients, your audience, the causes you want to support, etc.

It allows you to embody the freedom to be your authentic self and to express it in all areas of your life, including work, and to liberate yourself from the need to be or become someone or something else.

You are enough… not just on a superficial level (like “qualified enough, experienced enough, beautiful enough,…”) but enough in your essence, which is consciousness.

We all are.

You are here to find yourself, your profoundest value. This value will influence everything you touch, including your work.

We all have “external value,” the part of us that’s “useful” to the world, the value that flows into our work and other activities, and into the impact we have through them, in all senses: at home, in business, at the workplace, in our relationships, etc. You could call this “external value” your “unique brilliance” (talents, skills, knowledge, abilities, wisdom, etc.) and if finds its expression in your attitude and behavior.

But then, there is this intrinsic value that has nothing or little to do with your competencies or your work.

It’s the value you have just because you are, as a spiritual-human being. And when you can sense this value and all the power that comes with it, then you are free.

Just sit still for a moment, close your eyes, and calm your mind. Have a moment with the present moment, with your essence, with the consciousness you are.

Can you feel it?

Freedom is also the ability to break free from conditioning... which ranges from unintentional conditioning by well-meaning parents and friends to cultural and religious conditioning, to blatant indoctrination, mind control, and narratives that are incessantly imposed on us. Freedom comes with the willingness to see through it, to think for ourselves and to self-determine (through constant questioning and practice).

This is what freedom is.

Of course, we can also find greater freedom in other ways, like for example, if we want a lifestyle that requires a certain income, we will feel freer if we can generate this income with ease and without overexerting ourselves. We feel like we have the freedom to buy or own what we want.

Then there is freedom as in flexibility, like the freedom to determine your own schedule or to take care of your loved ones or yourself when there’s a need.

For those of us who love travel, we want to have the freedom to travel wherever we want and how we want.

And then there’s “freedom from…” Freedom from stress, anxiety, worry, imprisonment, control, regret, any type of burden... It’s never a bad thing to be free from the things we don’t want in our lives, is it?

In the end, the essence of all our goals boils down to greater freedom.

What, then, is YOUR definition of freedom? What’s a “must have” in your free life? Which types of freedom are critical in your career or business?

Whatever my clients’ goals are, I always also try to give them a piece of freedom.
