How a Fundraising Consultant could help you to fill the gap

Do you have a current vacant fundraising position?

Are you struggling to recruit a suitable candidate to a post?

Is recruitment taking longer than you expected?

Do you have a temporary increase in workload and need to increase capacity?

A Fundraising Consultant could be a great temporary solution to boosting your fundraising capacity. Working to your timeframe, they could slot in and start delivering quality work very quickly without the need for training, desk space or HR support.

What would be involved?

Interim support is tailored to each charity to reflect available resources and timeframe, but could entail:

  • Inception meeting – to set expectations, agree actions and timescales, exchange key documents including applications, cases for support, reporting commitments and pipeline. After reviewing these documents, a fundraising consultant could immediately start work.
  • Keeping on-top of all reporting commitments to current funders.
  • Account managing current relationships to ensure they stay engaged.
  • Applications and proposals to pipeline prospects
  • Developing a new compelling case for support
  • Prospect research to identify potential funders
  • Smooth handover to permanent staff member.

What could be achieved?

Interim support would ensure that nothing gets missed, relationships are maintained and developed and that your charity is still proactively seeking new funding. Depending on your exact requirements you could:

  • Maintain and develop current relationships to ensure that your reputation and supporter base is intact at the end of the interim period.
  • Ensure that your charity is still proactively seeking support and not missing any new opportunities or deadlines.
  • Avoid encumbering other team members or non-fundraising employees with added workloads
  • Benefit from experienced external support to enhance your current offer and highlight any ways you may improve.
  • Receive a resource pack of cases for support, proposals and pipeline that can ensure that a new team member can hit the ground running.
  • Take the pressure off whilst you find the right person for the role, knowing that your fundraising is in safe hands.
  • Access recruitment support, training and smooth handover for a new team member.

Interim Support in Action

We recently provided three months trust fundraising interim support to Cecily’s Fund, a charity working to provide an education to vulnerable children and orphans in Zambia. Cecily’s Fund were in the process of recruiting a new trust fundraiser, however they needed some support to meet reporting requirements and maintain application momentum during the interim period. We worked to their current pipeline and identified new potential funders to apply to whilst developing a core case for support that helped the new trust fundraiser to hit the ground running.

During the interim period, we were also able to develop two major applications for overseas funding and ensured that crucial deadlines weren’t missed.

“The quality of services delivered by KEDA Consulting was excellent. I would happily recommend them to others looking for interim fundraising support”

Cheryl Hooper, Director, Cecily’s Fund

Next steps

If you have a fundraising gap, a Fundraising Consultant may be the perfect fit. Think about your expectations, current resources and what you think you may need from a consultant. A consultant would be able to advise you on the best route to take and whether interim support will add value to your charity’s work.

Hi Joan, thanks for getting in touch. There is so much information online, but I recommend getting in touch with Durham Community Foundation as they love to support talented young people and if they are unable to help they should be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck!

I am looking at finding an opportunity to raise money for a 15 year old young man who has run for his school. His county and British schools . Can you suggest any direction I can look as I am finding it difficult to raise his profile. Thank you.
