How Fried Do you Like Your Fish?

How Fried Do you Like Your Fish?

#Loveletter 035

I went for my passport capture today on the mainland at 9 am and got back home around 7 pm this night. And No, this letter isn't about our failed government or retarded system, I just want to show you something, so fret not!

Of course, there was traffic on my way back, so I decided to use it for something productive. I began thinking of you and what to write to you today, being that today is a Wednesday.

Immediately, it crossed my mind that our family has grown and some people missed a very important letter I sent at the beginning of this series. By the way.....

We are a 15,000 Man Army now (subscribers). GLoraaayyyy

Anyway, To The Main Story:

Have you ever gotten to a point in your business, your career, or any project at all and then you ask yourself this question?

Who Sent Me?
Why am I even doing all these?
To what end?

I know you have.

Well, I have too. In fact, mine has been in multiple times until I came across this online conference where Debola Deji Kurunmi spoke. (Read till the end, this letter will help you as it helped me.)

In the exact words of Debola Deji Kurunmi,

"There is a particular tribe in Africa where those who have mastered the?delicate artistry of fish frying?are considered brave enough for war and fit to Marry the King's daughter"

This sounds so funny right, ????, but stay with me as I expose more of it to you.

I am sure you are already thinking,?"How in the world can that be possible?!!?

Yes, I thought the same too??.

Now, what has?"Fish Frying"?got to do with you in your career or business ecosystem?

The three valuable secrets of the simple act of fish frying that I am about to reveal to you are specifically for those who want to utilize their career/business to solve the continent's toughest challenges.

Let's Analyse Together

  • The?Fish, in this case,?is the problem you want to solve.
  • The?Oil?is the?Sector or context in which your business operates.
  • The?fried fish?is the?outcome ie the impact,?or?change?you want to see.

Now, let's get into the proper analysis of the secrets of fish frying

In other words, how can we relate the art of fish frying to increasing our impact, influence or even income?

  1. YOU MUST LOVE FRIED FISH ie The Outcome

The most important thing here is that you have to first love FRIED FISH ie?The outcome. This is because it is only your Love for the outcome that would make you go through the rigour of the frying process with HOT OIL!

As Sir Fela Durotoye would say,

'don't hope to be a great speaker, desire that everyone who listens to you would be great'.

This means that the difference is really in your approach to the outcome of whatever it is your hands have found to do.

According to Debola, you must desire the future of Africa more than you despise her present failure, if you want to birth any change with your business/career.

Most of us have started our career hustle already but the question is,

Are you doing it with a sincere love for the outcome?

Steve Jobs rightly said, "The best way to do a great thing is to do what you love". I totally agree with him because that is the only way you can passionately pursue the vision with everything in you until you see RESULTS.

2. SEASON THE FRIED FISH

If you're reading this and you know how to cook well, you would totally agree with the fact that yummy fried fish is produced with special seasoning.?

The Chefs who always have the best-fried fish, go through the best seasoning process before they begin frying.

You see, whatever problem it is you want to solve, your passion can never be enough!

That's a hard truth. Your solution has to have a different taste! It needs to be characterized by unique innovative approaches, coupled with globally relevant content and partnerships.

You need to show up with your best flavours, greatest expertise, best skill, and deepest exposures- this makes up your?SEASONING.

You can't keep thinking locally when you desire to solve a global problem. It won't work!

When fixing a global challenge, you need to bring your HEAD and HEART to the work, not only your heart. Nelson Mandela rightly calls this combo,?THE FORMIDDABLE COMBINATION - Head + Heart

  1. FISHES NEED?HOT OIL?TO FRY

Look at the emphasis I placed in "HOT OIL". You can't fry a fish with ordinary oil. The oil has to be hot if you desire to see a fried yummy fish instead of a soaked tasteless fish????.It sounds funny but this is the real deal!

According to Debola,?Every industry must be agitated by challenges, if it wants to re-invent itself.?There must exist some difficulties or challenges that would exist, in order for change makers like me and you to create disruptive solutions to. This is how most innovatively disruptive startups came about. They desired to uniquely fix an existing problem.

What challenge would you be willing to take on today and commit to giving it your all?
What would be your own?hot oil?that would cause you to produce yummy fried fish?

There is no better time to start than Now!

So how fried do you really like your fish?

Your answer will determine the work you put into your business/career/talent every day
