How Franchises Celebrate Armed Forces Day
One word: Winning!
This Saturday, May 21, Americans will give thanks to our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country on Armed Forces Day.
Anyone working in the franchise industry will tell you how grateful we are for them every day. As far as we can tell, the feeling is mutual.
Military members and veterans are winning big in franchising. How big? Just check out these statistics from our friends at Veterans in Franchising.
- As of 2016, one in seven franchises are owned by veterans.
- Since 2012, more than 200,000 new veterans and military spouses have started franchising careers.
- In the past year, more than 50,000 veterans have found employment in the franchise industry.
Franchisors know how much value military members bring to their business. The International Franchise Association lists more than 600 franchise systems that voluntarily offer financial incentives to veterans seeking to become franchise small business owners. Through their Veterans Transition Franchise Initiative, known as “VetFran,” over 6,300 veterans have become franchise owners.
As I’ve written before, the military provides exceptional training for members to transition into franchise owners. Members of the armed forces learn leadership, they excel at working within a system and are exceptional problem solvers.
