  • Taking a job as a door-to-door salesman for Telstra, selling direct to consumer, meeting his business partner at a Tony Robbins event


  • Moving to Sydney in 2000 as an international student, working in door-to-door sales and call centre roles, for Seek learning, owned by Seek.com.au, being a part-time job, with a good sales training program


  • Other MBA students were confused why he was in a sales role, and how he could make such good money in a part-time role

  • MBA was very high-level for organisational behaviour, good for large corporate multinationals, but not good for learning how to start a business


  • Being aligned in growing a business, wanting to think long term, and lead with value, leverage each others strengths and weaknesses


  • The goal was to scale, thinking 4-5 years down the line. Thinking more about the long term game plan, and not just about next month’s income


  • Investing in their Customer Service Team, creating raving fans


  • Students need constant follow up and touch points, at least once a week phone call, message or email


  • Hiring the right people, setting up the right systems, getting external coaches and mentors, people to guide their team, people and system development


  • Obsessing about how to add value from team members, taking care of employees well, so that they take care of clients, ensuring the development of the staff is the focus, they love learning and growing, and have very low staff attrition


  • Huge growth in the disability sector, NDIS, aged care and child care allows for longer term job prospects, allowing people to start their own businesses


  • Before COVID, people had to be in the same office, being open to people working remotely, world becomes your oyster, finding A Players all over the world


  • Invest in yourself first, training development, seek their knowledge, invest in personal development, change and connect, learn the trade
