How to fix the healthcare in America?

Let's talk about how to fix healthcare in America, and what you can do to fix it in your own family first.

So it may seem daunting to try to fix the healthcare problem in America all on your own, well, you can start within your own family. And if everybody were to do that, then we'd have a lot of progress in the way of fixing it for the whole country.

So, the first thing that you can do is look at health insurance as a commodity. for example, recently I was in the market for a new laptop. And when I decided to go and do it online, and so I went on Amazon, and I had an idea of what I wanted, what I needed it to do the memory that I needed to have, and you know, the functionality, and also had an idea of what I wanted to invest in this new laptop. And so I price compared, I looked at the different options, and I made my choice. And let's say I hadn't done on Amazon, let's say I had gone into the Apple Store, at the Apple Store would have done the same thing, except I would have also consulted with an expert that could really walk me through how the particular different options were going to fit what I needed.

If people looked at health care like this, and their health insurance like this, they would look at what their needs looked at what their wants, where look at their budget, and make a choice and then actually pay for themselves, they just feel a lot more empowered, and they value it a lot more, they're more likely to then, you know, be willing to listen to an advisor like me on how to use their plans and how to make the best decisions for their family. So number two is to look for off-market place private underwritten plans that you can secure and lock in a rate when you're healthy.

And that will stand the test of time so that over time, you don't have to switch insurance plans, some of these plans actually give you an increase in benefits, like kind of a reward for staying on year after year. And also what's happening in those years of having the same plan, you're becoming an expert at it. So there's gonna be no surprises no high, you know, surprising out-of-pocket costs that you never knew about.

On the marketplace, it's a lot more likely because you never really become an expert. So look for that plan that will stand the test of time. So number three is a prescription medication. Even if you don't take drugs regularly, or have anything that's prescribed to you, every once in a while you get you may get sick, your kids might need something, you have to be willing to get informed and to educate yourself and empower yourself on the prices of drugs because there's a lot of I hate to say it, but there's a lot of shade in this area. There's a lot of non-transparency in this area. And prices of drugs between generic and brand name drugs, they can really different price.

And also where I've seen it is just among different pharmacies. So you may have a CVS that charges one price. And you know, a Walgreens that charges a price that's a lot more or for some drugs a lot less. And so a tool that I love, love to use, and I show all my clients, it's called good Rx, calm, they have an app that you can download it to your smartphone. And what it does is it allows you to put in the name of the prescription. And if you put in your zip code, and it gives you the price at all the different pharmacies in your area, you would be surprised I've learned so much from good Rx, it even offers you coupons.

So let's say you're gonna pay cash because sometimes it just makes sense to go cash if your insurance doesn't provide good prescription coverage. Or if you just don't want to go through insurance, you may be better off doing it cash using a coupon from good Rx, and you're good to go. So number four is covered does not always mean free. So what do I mean by that, so Long gone are the days where if your insurance plan covered something that it would be, it would be completely free, it's not like that anymore.

These days, you really have to expect just change your mindset a bit to expect to pay out of pocket as you go a little bit, especially if you have an underwritten private plan, where you're paying a lot lower monthly premium, it's okay to pay cash here and there as you go. And the best thing to do is to be informed before you pay those prices and have them not be surprised. for example, instead of having a set coinsurance, you might decide that you're going to pay cash for something because the doctor will actually give you a lesser price, a cheaper price if you go cash than if you go to the insurance.

I know this sounds crazy, and it doesn't really make sense. Why would you need insurance if you would pay cash? Well, if you don't have a high deductible that you're meeting, if your deductible is really high, or if it's really low, or you don't have one at all, it may make sense to do this in some cases. And so number five and this might seem like really obvious but take really good care of yourself mind, body, soul, and you know, how do you do that you eat nutritious food, you get exercise Sleep.

You know, diseases are really caused by stress and a lot of the things that we're able to control by living a better lifestyle and just putting a little bit more attention on what we're putting into our bodies, eating organic foods, and develop a meditation practice or a yoga practice that really helped me. But for me, my biggest thing lately has been sleeping, I realized that you know, back in my, you know, the early 30s, I was just going, going, going, going, going super ambitious, going and crashing. Well, that's not sustainable. And so the reason why people as they get older, tend to have more expensive insurance is that they all their health starts to deteriorate.

So you can do a lot of that within your own family to just instill those healthy, healthy lifestyle habits, and that way, you'll get really good insurance and you'll save money over time. In conclusion, if you feel that you are interested in learning more about underwritten health insurance, or you are just more interested in figuring out what you can do for your family to really help fix the healthcare problem.
