On this New Year's Eve, December 31, 2023, I write as one of the first healthcare clinicians to integrate generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) into my medical practice. This blog stands as a 'legacy of the last', at the forefront of a revolution more transformative than the internet's inception: AI in Healthcare.

In the past three months, I've witnessed AI reshape medicine, administration, and spiritual wellness in unimaginable ways in my practice at Texas Center for Lifestyle Medicine.   • A pervasive fear of making mistakes or being "found out" creates a toxic atmosphere.

Communication:

  • Patients express dissatisfaction with long wait times and poor follow-up communication.

Self - Mindset:

  • There's a reluctance to engage with mental health issues, both personally and professionally.

Company Culture:

  • The work environment is perceived as toxic, indicating a need for cultural transformation.

Technology:

  • An overload of administrative tasks suggests a need for more efficient tech solutions.
  • The inability to delegate is exacerbated by outdated or insufficient technology.

This Ishikawa Diagram illustrates not just individual causes of burnout but a systemic pattern that requires a multifaceted solution. AI can address several of these roots, from automating administrative tasks to providing decision support, alleviating the cognitive burden on physicians.

Being part of sustainable change starting in college part of actual change starting in HS. Restructuring is a bitch if $ driving the agenda. Rather than the goal. First never ask tge top what is needed. You ask the workers. Then it take a little innovation, and a lot of community collaboration to not get what one wants but what they need to make the impossible possible & the first words you well hear. That not the way it works

Healthcare is complex. But from being part of actual change you learn. You first have two understand why you have the problem,then come the hard part applying innovation and community collaboration to do what we already know $$$ cannot. Or in most cases well not. Has not my job is the first words until they suddenly realize they are losing more than they are gaining. It called economic & business 101 sustainablity.
