How to find your brave ‘new world’ when all you can see is fear and uncertainty ahead

How to find your brave ‘new world’ when all you can see is fear and uncertainty ahead

Perhaps like me, you’d already hit the pause button on life and your enforced break gave you the time and space to reconsider your life, your work

and you've already felt the need to make a shift and re align with what truly matters to you, but are not sure how

or

just recently you’ve lost work or been furloughed and so have only just entered this strange new world and as a result have tumbled into a world of fear and uncertainty about the future

if so

this is for you:-

20 years ago, on a career break, life threw me a curve ball and I was forced unwittingly down a path in my life, that left me re considering my purpose, my identity and how to live in an unfamiliar world.

and so, as I write this, MY hope is that this article will bring YOU hope that life on the other side of C-19 will be even brighter and better than before

I have noticed over the last few weeks how things have fundamentally changed and how an element of peace is emerging from the anxiety of the global situation, though

I realise that you may not be feeling quite the same

There’s a lot of ‘productivity porn; out there right now;

- ‘this is your chance, be quick, get productive, get the fittest and healthiest you have ever been’

It’s overwhelming, it’s getting too much – we know what we need to do, probably all of the above and more, but this whole damn situation is leaving us feeling more, anxious, uncertain, fearful, knocking our confidence, killing our motivation – let’s be real about this, the last thing we want to do is to banish chocolate brownies from the ‘panic buy’ list or kill ourselves with a new fitness routine – 2 weeks down the line, when we’re not so motivated by all the uber healthy stuff, we’ll end up feeling even worse; not better......

Right now, whatever our situation, we’ve found ourselves on a different, uncertain and unknown path, confused, confidence ebbing, alone, feeling guilty for doing nothing, but that is all we feel like doing as we try to make sense of this ‘new world’ we have been flung in to

and if we read one more positivity quote or see one more Joe Wicks video, we feel we may not be responsible for our actions... right?

As I write this in April 2020, I find myself in a similar, yet different situation to many, as I feel I have been here before

in different circumstances

 - 22 years ago, in 1998, I took a career break (and never went back)

thinking back, I learnt a lot

during those 22 years, I had 10 years of seriously tough personal shit to deal with, 5 years of ‘taking time out’ to recover, re consider my options & re focus on my authentic self, the new me; 5 years of personal growth and qualification; 2 years of meaningful work, living an enriching life according to my true purpose (thankfully still ongoing)

....... and 2 weeks to get into some kind of Covid-19 isolation routine.

Like you, just as I felt I was really going somewhere, the world hit the pause button and shifted, pivoted, leaving you, me and the rest of the world hanging on by the skin of our teeth.

But by puling on my previous experience

I really want you to know that pausing is ok, in fact it can be good, for a short time. Good for our mental and emotional health

good for Mother Earth too!

We have time to consider where we are, where we are going and whether in the pre Covid crazy world we were living in, whether we were actually on the right path at all...

... forced into a new sense of the world, a place where we have time, connection - even though we are isolated, strange, but so true!

to hit the pause button

So let’s embrace all that we have, comfort ourselves, enjoy the moment and think to the future.

How?

From the place of hope, love and taking what I have learnt on my journey into my ‘new world’ I’ve put together a free booklet, easy to consume, just 5 areas of focus; from Acceptance of where you are now to Finding deeper meaning and purpose in your life and work ahead. You can access it HERE

The 5 areas are the only items you really need on your ‘to do’ list just now, forget the new diet, the extra fitness routine, the ‘be quick, else you’ll miss your chance’ messages – there will be time for that later -  if you decide that’s what you need after all.

These 5 areas - which include – acceptance, knowing what is truly important, self care practices (that are of relevant to where you are at just now) will help you to be in the very best place to make the shifts in life & work you need to make to find your path to purpose, joy and fulfillment.

To emerge ‘post Covid’, relatively unscathed, wellbeing intact, stronger and more purposeful than ever before, without a fitness video in sight!

Here’s to disruption and your journey into your exciting and uniquely purposeful ’new world’

Oops, missed the link? It's HERE
