Many new LinkedIn users/writers stress about trying to find their “voice" before they can start writing amazingly. They think this one way of writing makes you famous and successful if only they could figure it out. But this misconception only blocks your creative flow.
After publishing over 500 articles and 50,000 readers in the last three years, I have learned the counterintuitive secret to recognizable writing...
The only way to find your true creative voice is not looking for it at all - Jasmin Ali?
Because your authentic style was never missing in the first place, it has been there all along, waiting for you to relax into it by simply being you.
Stop Seeking, Start Being
We sabotage our brilliance by endlessly questioning what our style “should” be like according to some authority. But trying hard to manufacture a voice that sounds professional or STANDARD only obscures the real you.
Consider a maple tree - does it labour growing quintessential maple leaves? No! - leaves flow freely by being its maple self without striving. You have got to write and just be you too!
Four Ways to Comfortably Embrace Your Unique Voice
The writing flows effortlessly when you finally settle into being yourself. Follow these tips to stop analyzing and start shining:
1. Identify Passion Theme Areas
Consider broad spheres you feel pulled to explore, like psychology, parenting, health and wellness, personal growth, marketing, creativity, or other abstract concepts.
Name five to seven umbrella topics that feel natural?to?you.
Make a long list of these passions that point to what writing topics captivate you.
2. Write Down Questions You are Curious About
Within those broader areas, write down what specific life questions, wonders, or confusions organically bubble up for you.
Our intrigue offers clues to the creative ideas we can explore in writing. Inventory these to generate pieces.
3. Use Your Own Stories and Experiences
Impactful moments from your life make amazing stories. Childhood escapades, tough times you learned from, hilarious inside jokes - embrace your lens as against dry textbook analysis!

Your lived adventures add authentic spice to writing.
4. Show Off Your Quirks and Contradictions
The stuff that makes you multifaceted or a little weird makes for your most original writing. Are you a jock who writes poetry?
An organized mom who backpacks Europe solo? Showcasing our unique and dynamic selves resonates.
Rules Are Meant for Breaking – Especially in Writing!
As the Bhagavad Gita says: “Better to live your path imperfectly than imitate another’s perfectly.”
So ignore pressures to sound some stereotypical idea of a “legit writer.”
You need not be a New York Times #1 bestseller to create work only YOU can...that moves souls who need your unique voice.
The Bottom Line Is to Be Unapologetically You
That seemingly elusive signature voice emerges when you shed self-judgment and ride your innate wave.
Produce works fueled by your distinctive beat. Magnificence follows this relaxed presence versus straining towards some fictional finish line.
Your wisdom is already within. Quit seeking externally what dwells innately inside you as Seneca said: “You are away from home; look inward.” Return home by being unapologetically YOU.
