How to Find Time To Write?

How to Find Time To Write?

"I want to write. I really want to write. But I don't have time!"

If only I tell you that you have time ... Or better! You can create the time that you always wanted. Those trying to squeeze in writing time into their tight 9-5 schedule, here are some tips for you:

1. Write during commutes.

Sitting in the metro and gazing at people blankly? Or listening to music to while away travel time? We spend a minimum of an hour daily for our commutes. That is empty time. Use it to write. Get that phone out and start typing.

2. Record, if you can't write.

You are in middle of some work, and an idea strikes. You got to note it down, but "oh! so lost for the time". Record a voice note. And transcribe it later. Quick, easy, and you can revisit it anytime. A blessing, truly!

3. Make time before.

Instead of finding time after the job (when you are tired and droopy), find time before (when you're fresh and brimming with energy). Wake up 30 minutes earlier in the morning and just write away. Start your day with your passion!

[This being said - do it only if your body allows and is well-rested. Don't put extra strain on your body else writing would feel just like a chore. And we certainly don't want that.]

4. Write for just 5 minutes.

You are sipping coffee during the break about to have a chat with the colleague. Or you are watching the TV. Or doing social media. Cut back on that time with just 5 minutes. And write. 5 minutes / day = 30 minutes / week ... and that is a lot :)

You don't need to set aside 'dedicated writing time'. Write whenever you feel like. Any time, whenever any idea strikes. Identify those time pockets and just let the ink flow!

Who says there's no time? There is always time. Time is priorities.

Very helpful tips! There were times when I didn't "Get time" for writing. I made a commitment to myself to write exactly 1 blog per day. I think if we decide that we "have to write" for a particular period of time (and decide that time of the day as well) then it's going to be easier. For example: While I'm at home, I usually select afternoons for my blog-writing since everyone else in my family is sleeping during this time. So, I don't have to split my family-time.

Simran Doshi? It not the time. It is all about getting into the zone with the writing genie. She is not coming out just because I want her to..........She happens when thoughts, focus and the will of the universe align. It's up to me to seize the moment.?
