How To Find A Supportive Community Where Members Collaborate

How To Find A Supportive Community Where Members Collaborate

“Love each other with genuine affection,?and take delight in honoring each other.”?
Romans 12:10 NLT

As humans, we are wired for community, for belonging. But unfortunately, in our modern world, we have created forced communities that give the illusion of sharing life.

  • How many Facebook groups do you belong to?
  • Who do you connect with at church? Bible study?
  • What types of meetings do you attend?
  • With whom do you hang out while waiting for your kids’ activities??

You can still feel alone even with all these places to ‘show up,’ right? Whether you are in-person or virtual, you can feel alone. Guess what? Many of us, most women, feel the same.

It is as if we are all standing side-by-side yet not seeing one another.?Oh yes, we encounter one another at meetings, see one another at our children’s games, say ‘hi’ as we pass one another in our work, and smile at one another at church.

But we are islands, alone in the sea of busyness and survival. So we need to find one another. We need to see one another, reach out to one another, and stop competing, so we can do what God calls us to do and thrive.?

I want to discuss finding a supportive community where you belong and can pour into others, where we see one another.

Let’s look at how being in a supportive community gives you the motivation to focus on living out God’s purpose through your business.??

Stop trying to ‘fit in’ to communities with only part of yourself, a sliver of who God has called you to be. Stop feeling fragmented. Feel whole in the right community—a supportive community where we are invested in one another.

A One Another Supportive Community

If you have been in Christian circles for any time, you have probably heard about the ‘one another’ or ‘each other’ verses. These ‘one another’ verses are the perfect backdrop for how a community built on support and collaboration should look when we do?the work God has us to do.

Why is this type of community so important? Because each day, we connect with people in our offices, networking groups, and other business dealings where we may only be allowed to show up as part of who we are.

Having a community of believers behind us allows us to be strong daily in our marketplace.?This support system also inspires us to serve others in the marketplace, to show them, Christ.

Our number one mission from Jesus is to make disciples. To show others His goodness. And we (you and I) get to do this through our work, our businesses. We are on the front lines to show this goodness, build relationships, and introduce others to Jesus.

But we need backup. We need to know that we can grow in all areas (personally, professionally, and spiritually) because we are in a community dedicated to one another.

This is precisely what?Romans 12:10 ?tells us to do,

“Love each other with genuine affection,?and take delight in honoring each other.”?

When followed correctly, this verse eliminates competition and promotes devotion and dedication to one another and God’s purpose for us.

Creating a Supportive One Another Community

Imagine a place where women come together in a community. We each seek to know and be known by the other women in the ‘room.’ We strive to be challenged and inspired to do our own work better. And, we expect to pour into others our wisdom and care.

This type of community is essential to build supportive relationships that enhance our businesses. We come together to be with women like us and understand what we are going through—a place where we come together for encouragement.

Another, one another verse is?1 Thessalonians 5:11 , which says,

So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

  • Who do you have in a community that gives you the support you need to stand in your work daily as a believer in Jesus?
  • Who is in your life that you can go to and chat about difficulties with a co-worker, client, or team member?
  • About launching a new product or shifting your business model?

We need women who can keep us looking to what God wants for us. The BETTER, not just the good.

Benefits of a One Another Community

Let me give you some practical ways this type of ‘one another’ supportive community can help.

First, did you know. . .

Everyone in our circles, networking groups, and community knows 250 other people you do not know. This is another essential piece for your business. We need people who can refer us to others. We need the power of numbers for business growth.

When we can go deep to understand one another’s businesses and also understand one another’s hearts, that referral element skyrockets, and the?know-like-trust factor is accelerated.?

Second, did you know. . .

Accountability is probably the most critical element fueling your true success.?Why? It strengthens your commitment, produces excellence, and empowers you to persevere.

Accountability is something that has to be worked at. When there is a consistent strategy to follow, you can apply it to your business. It gives each of us in the community the?opportunity to provide support and offer praise to one another for our efforts so we can accomplish more.

Third, did you know. . .

Collaboration motivates you to do better work. Therefore, it needs to collaborate as we work toward a common goal and purpose and do what God calls us to do.

Collaboration sparks creative problem-solving and powers value creation for everyone involved by expanding skills and learning. It also helps us stay focused on our bigger mission, working for God and making disciples.?

I love what Paul says in?Romans 15:14 ,

I am fully convinced, my dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well you can teach each other all about them.

That’s collaboration.

Wanting a One Another Community

Here’s my desire, I want to bring my whole self into any community I enter. I want to show up in a community where I am accepted when?I show up whole, holy, and authentic as ME.?I want to be side-by-side with women who see me for me.

Are you there? Do you want a place where people get you,’ support you, encourage you and love you? Do you want the opportunity to do the same for them??

Galatians 6:10 ?says,

Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should?do?good?to?everyone—especially?to?those in the family of?faith.

So where can you find a supportive, REAL community willing to let you share your whole self? It does exist. There is a place to BE who you are and talk about your concerns at every level and part of your life.?

It is a?community carved out for you to fill up, be recharged, explore your faith, and learn from one another. I want that for you. I want that for me.

I echo Paul’s words in?1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 ?when he says,

And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.?May he, as a result, make your hearts strong, blameless, and holy as you stand before God our Father when our Lord Jesus comes again with all his holy people.
