How to Find SaaS Companies on LinkedIn (for Freelance Writers)

The SaaS market is on a remarkable growth trajectory, poised to reach an astounding $908.21 billion by 2030, with a robust compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.7%.

You can even say that SaaS – software-as-as-service – is already a game-changer in the world of eCommerce, and it's just getting started.

For a product that lives in the clouds, it has a definite impact on the ground. SaaS is revolutionizing how businesses operate, offering scalable and flexible solutions that are accessible from anywhere. And with internet fuelling this growth, it's no wonder why freelance writers want to specialize in SaaS.

I started freelance writing in 2014 and titled myself as a digital marketing freelance writer. It wasn't until several years later that I kept seeing, "B2B SaaS," as freelance titles and once I looked into what that actually meant, I realized – that's me!

I'm a SaaS writer. I write for SaaS companies in various digital marketing companies like: SEO, analytics, content writing, AI, email marketing, course platforms and social media...and it's growing, but what's in common with all of these SaaS brands is they need a freelance writer that:

  • Understands their product, tool or service
  • Can handle writing long-form content
  • Can write in all the funnel types (ToFu MoFu BoFu content)
  • Is able to write about tech
  • Caters to a specific audience (creators, marketers, CEOs)

So, if you want to do some SaaS writing for these companies, how do find these clients on LinkedIn?

Let's find out.

Do a Targeted Search With Boolean Modifiers

Boolean modifiers like AND, NOT, OR can help freelance writers narrow (or broaden) their searches to find the exact type of person or SaaS company to pitch to.

So, how does this work?

  1. AND: This modifier is used to include multiple terms in a search, so that all terms appear in the search results. For example, if you're looking for SaaS companies in the healthcare industry, you might type something like "SaaS AND healthcare." This would return results that contain both "SaaS" and "healthcare," helping you find companies that specialize in healthcare software. You can also add more than one AND to your search, "SaaS AND healthcare AND biotechnology."
  2. NOT: With this modifier, you exclude certain terms from the search results. If you want to find SaaS companies but not those in the financial sector, you could specify, "SaaS NOT finance." This would turn up SaaS companies that aren't related to finance, narrowing down your search to more relevant results.
  3. OR: You can broaden your search by including multiple terms, any of which can appear in the search results. So, if you are open to writing for SaaS companies in either the healthcare or education sectors, you can search "SaaS AND (healthcare OR education)." This would result in "SaaS" and either "healthcare" or "education," providing a wider range of potential companies to pitch to.

By using these Boolean modifiers, you can effectively filter your search results to find the exact type of person or SaaS company to pitch your writing services to.

Pages People Also Viewed

When searching for top SaaS companies in your niche, you'll most likely look at their LinkedIn page and on the side bar you'll notice a, "people also viewed" tab.

Here, there will be a list of similar SaaS or B2B SaaS companies. Make list of these companies as you view other company pages.

You'll be able to find many different SaaS companies to pitch to.

Other People Viewed

You can use the same approach as the previous one when looking at various content managers or leads.

If you check the side bar, you'll see other people that might also be relevant or connections you want to make.

Make a list of the important people in these SaaS companies so you can start making connections or start pitching.

In Your Feed

As you build your network on LinkedIn, you'll start to see posts from founders, editors, content leads and other freelancers.

Pay attention to your feed every day as many times there will be posts for freelance writing opportunities.

But, if you don't see any, just type it in and set the time frame to the past week and see what's available.
