Hiring managers and recruiters are not the only ones who need to find the best match; job seekers also have to do their due diligence to ensure they're aligned with the right recruiter.
After all, the recruiter is your primary point of contact and advocate within the company, so it's important to build a rapport with someone who can best speak to your qualifications. Here are three tips for finding the relevant recruiter within a company.
1. Check company websites.
The first step is to check each company's website for any mention of a recruiting department or specific recruiters. This can usually be found under the "Careers" or "About Us" sections.
Many companies will also list their current job openings on their website, which can be a good way to get an idea of what kinds of roles they're looking to fill.
2. Do a general search online.
If you're still having trouble finding contact information for specific recruiters, try doing a general search on LinkedIn or 谷歌 . You may be able to find social media profiles or contact information this way.
For example, I personally list what I recruit for, on LinkedIn through posts and on my bio. Even on my title! Most recruiters do, as well. (It is nicer to see "I recruit leaders and builders for Amazon Web Services (AWS) on my title, vs "recruiter.")
Just make sure you're looking at recent articles or posts, as recruitment teams can change frequently.
3. Ask your network.
Sometimes the best way to find something is to ask around. If you have any connections at the company—whether it's through family, friends, or professional acquaintances—they may be able to put you in touch with the right person.
And even if they don't know anyone at the company specifically, they may know someone who does, so it's always worth reaching out and asking around.
-----
The recruiter-job seeker relationship is critical but finding the right one can sometimes feel like looking for a needle in a haystack. By checking company websites, conducting a general search online, and leveraging your professional network, you'll increase your chances of connecting with a recruiter who's a good fit for you and your career goals.
