So, you're inching closer to getting the job offer; the package is fantastic, the designation is precisely what you wanted, the company is renowned, and the role sounds incredible; however, your panic button starts buzzing!
Wondering why? Do these questions sound familiar, "Would I be happy there?", "Would this be the right fit for me?", "It's a big brand name, but would I enjoy working there?".?If this resonates with you, you'll be glad to know that you're not alone!?We have all felt this at some point in life, including me, a recruiter whose day and night revolves around this.
?So, what can we do to ensure that our decision is correct and that the place where we spend almost one-third of our day is happy and fulfilling??To ensure "Monday Blues" don't exist in your diary, here are some of my tips that would come in handy before you take out your Mont Blancs to sign the offer that holds the promise of the brightest future for you!
Introspect
The first and the most crucial step is to introspect. Clearly determine your preferences, priorities, objectives, interests, personality type, likes and dislikes, what kind of culture you thrive in, and what are your career goals.

Research
Once you are clear on what you want, the next step is to start researching the potential employer.

·??It's critical to uncover are their employees happy? One of the determinants would be the employee turnover there. You can easily determine this by reviewing the team's profiles on LinkedIn.
·?Try to connect the dots if the employees are moving; is it for a better prospect or not? The odds are that this won't be your last job change, so it's essential to determine what would be your career prospects after this.
·?Ensure that the company provides meaningful growth opportunities personally and professionally. For example, are the employees promoted, or are they at the same designation for years? Does the company offer training programmes? Etc.
·?Read ex-employees reviews on Glassdoor. Honestly, take individual reviews with a pinch of salt; however, observe if you find a pattern! As once the employee has made up his mind to leave, they would only see the negatives (majority of the time)!
·?Try to find out some connections in the company. If you can, try to learn beyond the obvious about the company. For example, ask them: if you were a leader in the company, what's one thing you'd change? What is the thing you love most about your company? When was the last time you felt appreciated and heard? Have you taken up some initiatives beyond your KPIs? How's the work-life balance? What are the perks beyond the monetary component?
·???A company's reputation is key. Ask a lot of questions and do your research to ensure you get a firm grasp of it. Understand the track record of the company and its image in the market.?An excellent way to research this is to try and find out what their clients and vendors have to say!

Have a Candid Conversation
Wouldn't it be great if you could have a candid conversation with your manager and hear it from the horse's mouth? So ask the right questions that matter to you, i.e., flexibility, career growth, stability, leadership style, expectations from this role, work-life balance, team dynamics, and the other determining criteria for you that would help you make a confident decision regarding your next strategic career move.
?It's impossible to guarantee if you'll be a perfect fit for the company or whether you'll get along with your coworkers right away. It's even more challenging to predict how employee-centric the organization will be or if it will live up to all the promises made and the beautiful picture painted. However, you can definitely see if there are red flags; hence reject those and finally land a job which would be gratifying both personally and professionally!
I hope my blog helps you land your dream company!
