How to get a job in the Blockchain/Crypto/NFT industry

The industry needs you!?

Do you spend your spare time buying NFTs or investing in crypto? If you are like me, you might have wondered if you could transition into the space and integrate your profession with your passion. With so many new blockchain companies popping-up the opportunities are endless.?

I recently made the transition and would like to share a few pointers to help you on your journey. A little backstory on myself, I have been in the Talent Acquisition space for 15 years and understand the fear and doubt around making job changes. I personally was doing great in my last position but just didn’t have a feeling of fulfillment at the end of the day. Meanwhile, I had started my journey down the Crypto and NFT rabbit-hole. I started with Crypto investing roughly 4 years ago and then transitioned this knowledge into NFTs. I found my thoughts and spare time consumed by this hobby. I eventually started to wonder if I could merge my daily profession with this hobby and the answer was yes!

Steps to start the process:

  • Analyze your core professional strengths and then think about how they could be applied to assist a company in the space. Examples: Marketing, Finance, Designer, Developer, Sales etc.
  • Take extra time to research some of the top companies in the space, sign-up on their platform and use the product. I would also recommend doing this for as many competitors in the space to understand who has the best product and understand short-comings. This information will create excellent talking points in the interview.
  • Update your LinkedIn profile with buzzwords like NFT, non-fungible token, Crypto, blockchain, DeFi, and different platforms you have used. I recommend adding this in the “About Me” section. Why is this important? Recruiters search LinkedIn by using keywords. So if they need a UX Designer they will type in “UX Designer” and “NFT” to pull up candidates that have experience with both.?
  • Build a resume with a “hobbies” or “side projects” section to show you are knowledgeable and passionate about the industry.?
  • Decide what companies you would want to work for and then apply to the position on LinkedIn and their website. I would recommend starting with LinkedIn and messaging the job poster too if it is listed. Don’t be scared! The worst that can happen is you don’t hear back, but I’m confident you will if you write a nice note stating your admiration for the company and industry. Oftentimes when you apply on a website it goes into a database and will be overlooked.?

Now is the time! The industry is exploding. There was roughly $6 Billion of VC investment in 2020 and $33 billion in 2021. Blockchain companies are revolutionizing the way we conduct business, connect with customers and fans, invest, game, and stay connected with friends and family. Don't miss an opportunity to shape the future!
