How to find equanimity in our world!

How to find equanimity in our world!

For most of us we tend to have our internal sense anchored in the world around us. Things outside of us are beautiful?and going very well, we feel peaceful and calm. If people around us speaking to us and treating us the way we want to be spoken to, the way we wanted to be treated, we feel happy, calm and peaceful.?

However, when they are not treating us well. When things are not going the way we want, whether in a general sense or in a specific sense, our internal anchoring get's off and our internal balance gets disrupted.?

?Right now we are in a unique and specific time. The habit of us getting thrown out of internal balance based on the world around us is not unique to Covid and current political situations or the burgeoning of a variety of conspiracy theories and people we know going along with them.?

It is not due to the current moment of issues and conflicts between people of different races or religions or walks of life or sexual orientations.??

This is the core of who we are, and has been going on as long human beings have identified as the mind! Therefore, that is the core we need to address this issue from, within our mind. One way to think about is like if we walk through a garden or a fruit orchard and we see a variety of different types of trees. Orange trees, apple trees, and banana trees. We recognize?them all, notices them all and appreciate them all. But there is never a sense as we look at a banana tree for example, questioning the tree, why can't you be like an orange tree?

We may be walking through a flower garden and we notice and see Roses and Jasmine and other types of flowers, like sunflower. We appreciate all of them, but we never say, why can't the rose smell like a jasmine, or look like a Jasmine? Why doesn't the sunflower have any fragrance at all.?

We are able to accept and appreciate this variety in nature.?However, we lose that ability when it is a variety in the world. It is as if though we are going through a fruit garden yelling at banana trees to become more like orange trees. Or yelling at bananas to be juicer??

This is where we lose our?equanimity! Because we are constantly wanting things to be different.?This is where the key from a spiritual perspective is to anchor yourself in that ability to witness, be aware, notice without having?an attachment?to wanting things to be different in the external world.?

Internally, we need to anchor ourselves in that which doesn't change.?Whether you eat a banana or an orange, whether it is juicy or not juicy. Whether you are smelling a rose or a jasmine or trying to smell a sunflower but unsuccessfully! Who you are at the core is unchanged. You don't need any of that to change for you.?

So as our world in many ways behaving in different ways than what we want, both generally and specifically, It is important for us to recognize that our internal sense and situation is not dependent?on the external situation. Myself is not determined?by situation around me.??

However, we are actively engaged with and connected to and united with, that world around us. It is not like we are separate?from the world. We are part in some way in co-creating of what?is happening in the world.??

It is essential for each of us to also, along with anchoring in the unchanging nature of the self, soul, spirit, love, truth, divinity, Consciousness, whatever we call it. Along with that to also commit ourselves to being active members of consciously co-creating the world outside, that better mirrors our world inside.?
