How to Find the Comfort Heights for Every Kind of Basin Mixers

When designing a basin mixer, both the style and user-friendly should be considered. Most of the Luxera series have versions of the same tap in different heights. The types of basins, their heights and depths will determine the heights of the taps. And we prepare different heights so as to meet different basins.

How to Avoid Splashing?

Splashing is one of the ways to check whether the faucet’s height is suitable or not. In order to avoid splashing and have enough room between the faucet and the basin, we should find the comfort height of the basin mixer. The necessary length of the spout, the angle of the water flow and the shape of the basin should be also considered.

Concealed Basin Mixers

These taps are also known as wall mounted basin taps. They consist of a body into the wall and exposed apart with handles and spout. These are great for instances where you wish to keep the vanity counter as slim as possible. Or when you are using basins which do not have the tapholes for installation of basin mixer. Positioning is everything. The faucet must reach far enough that the water stream hits beside of the waste in the basin. Concealed basin taps should have the spouts sitting approximately 100mm to 150mm above the basin.?

These are the most common types of taps used. There are various designs and heights available. Short taps are most suitable for mounting directly on the basin itself.

Take the basin size: 460x290x170mm for an example. This is the common size for the small basins in Europe. The distance from the center of the basin waste hole to the edge is 115mm. So, the length of the spout should be more or less like this as we want to point the jet of water towards the waste and give enough room for the user to splash about in. Also, the comfort height is from 75mm to 80mm as taller faucets do splash a bit more. They are for cleaning in the sink, washing hair in the sink and other less likely scenarios in modern times. Also, they are more affordable. For these reasons, having short faucets are actually preferred and easier to work around.?

Counter-top Basin Mixers

Bowl washbasins sitting on the counter are original and very aesthetic. The heights of taps are chosen depending on the depth of the bowl. The shape of spout should also be taken into account so that the water falls in the center and does not splash.

Take the basin size 420x420x180mm for an example. The distance from the center of the basin waste hole to the edge is 210mm. So, the length of the spout should be more or less like this as we want to point the jet of water towards the waste and give enough room for the user to splash about in. Also, the comfort height is from 200mm to 250mm as the basin’s height is 180mm. We should leave enough room for washing while taller faucets do splash a bit more.?
