Don’t pursue financial independence because you hate your job. If you hate your job, it’s better to pivot careers today than prolong suffering. Financial independence should be about being free to do what you want. But if today, you don’t enjoy life to retire early, try to loosen up a bit.
The highest-paying job is not the best if you’re miserable and unhealthy in it. With any job, it’s good to save so you have the freedom to move. Emergency funds will allow you to explore jobs you may like while young. Otherwise, when your current job turns sour, you won’t be able to move.
If you can, save some money so you can invest it and grow over time. However, do not put all your money in retirement and tax-exempt accounts. Balance your retirement, tax-exempt and regular investing accounts. It’s even good to have different investing accounts for certain goals....
