How to Figure Out What You Want to Do Next

How to Figure Out What You Want to Do Next

A lot of women tell me they hesitate to come into the CoveyClub because they are unsure of what they want to do next.?

They know they are done with their current profession: they have reached the top of the mountain in their careers, or they have reached burnout. Or maybe they feel they are at a crossroads: some disruption in their lives (a health crisis, empty nest, divorce, widowhood, job loss, etc.) has disconnected them from all they knew in the past and they are looking for a connection to the future.

Many of them think CoveyClub is for women who have figured out what they’re doing next and are ready to work on that project.

While CoveyClub is always a terrific choice for women who know exactly what they want to pursue next (they can jump into PODs focused on how to build a business), it’s even better for those in the process of exploration.??

Each week at CoveyClub I bring in experts from all over the world who share their expertise in a class and put in front of you dozens of options for rethinking, resetting, or refocusing your direction. I deliberately reach out to the practical experts who can teach you how to use LinkedIn to get a seat on a board , how to master the basics of Instagram for your business , or how to price the product you want to sell . But I also reach out to amazing instructors who operate in less obvious reinvention territory: who can show you how to shape your sense of well-being, or how to calm an angry person in 90 seconds (very practical these days), or how to use proper breathwork to alter your daily focus .?

When people join the CoveyClub, I encourage them to take advantage of all the resources we offer and to sign up for classes, PODs, or Challenges they might only have a vague interest in. Once you’re living in a world of open-mindedness about what you want to do next, you never know what will trigger your inspiration. The best quote I ever got from a serial reinventor about how to figure out what you want to do next was to “open your eyes to all the reinvention possibilities that throw themselves in front of you every day.”

CoveyClub will lob those possibilities at you every day.

I’ve watched women come into CoveyClub discombobulated after a divorce or a cancer diagnosis and two or three years later find them thriving — with new jobs, new friends, a new optimism about life.?

What I’ve learned is that you really never know where your next idea for reimagining your life will come from. I, for example, spent six years pursuing a master’s degree in sustainability management before CoveyClub was born. So when they closed More Magazine, I had a choice of which road to take. I decided on CoveyClub for now. But I’ll always have that master’s in my back pocket.?

If you’re feeling like you’re wandering alone in the forest, spend some time with fellow wanderers like me. We all bump into trees along the way but eventually we find the right clearing and make a fabulous camp together.?
