How to Fertilize Cucumbers?

Cucumber belongs to the Cucurbitaceae Melon genus. It is an annual climbing herb that consumes a lot of water and has a strong water absorption capacity. It is suitable for soil with strong water retention capacity and requires frequent fertilization.

1. Base fertilizer: The increase of base fertilizer should be dominated by retting organic fertilizer and supplemented by inorganic fertilizer. Generally speaking, for plots with medium soil fertilizer efficiency, 4000-6000KG of retting pig manure and 20-30KG of phosphorus fertilizer can be added per mu.

2. Fertilize cucumbers in a small amount and multiple times: the amount of organic fertilizer used for cucumber topdressing should be prevented from being too high at one time, especially inorganic fertilizers such as ammonium chloride and sodium chloride should not be too high, so as to prevent the salinity in the soil from increasing and causing excessive salt hinder.

3. Seedling stage: One week after transplanting, the water-soluble fertilizer for long-rooted and vigorous seedlings is applied when the agricultural mulch is applied to water the seedlings. Generally, amino acid water-soluble fertilizers are used, and the amount of fertilizer per mu is about 5 kg. The main purpose is to promote the germination of new roots at the seedling stage, to grow vigorously and vigorously, and to lay the foundation for the later fruiting.

4. Early flowering stage: Spray 0.3-0.5% urea solution or 0.2-0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solvent through the leaves. Plant fertilizer needs to be dominated by thin farmyard manure, which is used in small amounts and multiple times.

5. Apply as much organic fertilizer as possible to cucumbers: more decomposed organic fertilizers should be applied to cucumbers, which can make the soil loose, warm, air-permeable, lock water and fix the soil, and will not affect the young stems due to the high concentration of the soil solution growth and development.

6. Flower bud differentiation: Generally, cucumbers need about 15 days from flower promotion to bright flowering. At this time, they are generally transplanted into the field. Therefore, when the time is constant, quick-acting nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers should be topdressed to improve the quality of flowers. Improving initial yield and quality plays a vital role.

7. Topdressing: topdressing during the Peng period, watering when the melon strips start to swell, and 10KG nitrogen compound water-soluble fertilizer will be applied along with washing. During this period, the growth of melon strips below requires nutrients, and we must pay attention to the management of liquid fertilizer.

8. Harvesting period: During the harvesting period, 4KG of base fertilizer, 3.5KG of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and 5.5KG of potassium fertilizer are required to digest and absorb 1000KG of cucumbers during the harvesting period. The ratio of digestion and absorption is 1:0.87:1.34. After that, water once every 7-8 days, and topdress the fertilizer on time according to the nutrient requirements in the growth period.
