How to Feel More Grounded
Tracey Gazel
?? I help leaders improve mental clarity and focus, sleep better, feel calmer with less stress, be present at home and enjoy life more.
Do you know the sensation of feeling grounded?
In order to explain it, it may be easier to explain its opposite.?
When you’re not grounded, you may feel frazzled, overwhelmed, or swept away by the many distractions, stresses, and problems of life.?
You may have the sensation of ‘having your head in the clouds’, which essentially is being caught up in your thinking.?
In contrast, being grounded is being present.?
It’s being here in the moment with a clear and free mind.?
It has a weight to it. To me it feels like my feet are heavy and I’m rooted into the ground so that I’m focusing on what’s happening in the here and now.?
Being grounded is being settled and relaxed, no matter the circumstances.?
It is similar to a tree that has big roots beneath the ground that are as tall and wide as the tree is above the ground.?
When a big windstorm blows through, a tree with strong roots does not get blown over and pulled out of the soil. Its strong roots, or grounding, maintains its strength and position even as temporary storms pass through.?
In this same way,?being grounded strengthens you for when the inevitable storms of life blow through.?They may shake your branches and you may lose some leave, but the storms are only temporary and with a?solid grounding, they are not strong enough to blow you over.?
Being grounded is being calm, content, and relaxed as you flow through life.?
It’s having a quiet mind that could also be referred to as a meditative state of mind.?
It feels so good to meditate because you put your thinking down for a while. Your mind quiets down and you get present to what you’re feeling and noticing in this moment. When you do, it feels good to be you.?
What I’ve been exploring lately is that you don’t need to meditate to have a meditative state of mind.?
You can find your clear and quiet mind, at any time of day, even with your eyes open.?
And I would argue it is more beneficial to have a quiet and clear mind while outside of meditation, at work, at home, or wherever else you get pulled.?
Being grounded is inviting your thinking mind to rest and get quiet.?
Being present to this moment.?
Feeling clear and free.?
Being present with your loved ones.?
Enjoying the simple pleasures of life and everything that’s going right today.?

It’s feeling settled and relaxed.?
Enjoying life more.?
Being rooted in the part of you that’s always calm and peaceful.?
Knowing that it’s always there; if you pause, quiet your mind, and sink into the present moment.?
It’s not easy to talk about because there often aren’t words to describe it.?
It’s a feeling.?
?
And it’s the secret to having a deeper enjoyment of life.?
?
Have a great week,
Tracey
