How to Feed the Content Beast

How to Feed the Content Beast

The one major thing that holds brands back from creating regular content is that they know that once they commit, they need to commit. The content beast, as I call it, is always hungry and when you start engaging an audience, it's important to consistently feed that beast.

That can be daunting and even the most dedicated content creators (non-brand) run into the issue of running out of steam and/or ideas. I definitely feel the content slump from time to time. I feel it when I'm super busy - so I don't have the mindspace to focus on creating something that is interesting - and I feel it when I run out of creative juice - feeling like I have no good ideas any longer.

This week's video is all about how I push through those slumps - some of the tools and techniques I use to keep feeding the content beast. If you have your own tips and tricks, share it in the comments so everyone can learn! :)

Truly Social is a web series that you can share with your boss or client when they're not really "getting" social. It's also the name of my company - where we work with clients on helping them develop their own content series.

I've been working on this social stuff for over 18 years and I've been a participant in the social web since 1992. My videos will come out every SUNDAY...with ~5 minute "lessons" on what are truly social practices (and what are NOT).

Great stuff Tara Hunt! One of the tips I also give clients if they're out of ideas is to look internally - snap a picture of your teammates buried under redbulls trying to hit a deadline, ask if anyone else on the team has something they want to wax poetic on, ask your team what they're listening to or watching, or produce content around a project you're working on internally if that's an option. It kind of loops in with the idea of taking a step back in that it highlights things going on internally that we may be too involved in to even realize are interesting or dynamic. Plus, it humanizes the brand and fosters transparency by giving the team some props and visibility :)

I'm glad to see that I'm doing a lot of what you shared. I also resonated with the truth of content/creativity exhaustion - and it's nice to see you back with another video. Thanks Tara.
