How Fasting Helped Me Beat My Binge Eating Disorder (hopefully lol)

Binge eating disorder (BED) is a condition where you eat large amounts of food in a short time, and feel out of control and guilty afterwards. I have had BED since I was a child, when I learned to binge eat as a way to cope with food insecurity and stress.

I've always done lots of exercise, so I always kept the weight off and have been slim most of my life.

I didn’t think I had a problem, until I turned 40 and the lockdowns made it worse. I started to binge eat every day, and gained a lot of weight and health issues. I felt miserable and hopeless.

I tried many diets, but none of them worked. I always ended up bingeing again. I felt like I had no control and no hope.

Then I discovered fasting. Fasting is when you stop eating for a certain period of time, from hours to days. Fasting has many benefits for your body and mind, such as weight loss, blood sugar control, inflammation reduction, brain function enhancement, and longevity increase.

Fasting changed my life. Fasting broke the cycle of bingeing and starving, and gave me control and discipline over my eating. Fasting reduced my appetite, cravings, and emotional eating, and made me more mindful and aware of my hunger and fullness. Fasting improved my health, as I lost weight, lowered my blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar, and felt more energetic and happier.

Fasting is not a magic bullet, and it is not for everyone. Fasting should be done with caution, and under the guidance of a doctor or a nutritionist. Fasting is a tool, a lifestyle, and a personal choice.

But for me, fasting has been the best thing that ever happened to me. Fasting helped me overcome my binge eating disorder, and regain my health, happiness, and confidence. Fasting gave me a new perspective on food, and a new appreciation for life.

If you have BED, or any addiction, you are not alone, and there is hope. The key is to admit that you have a problem, and to seek help. I have to thank the legendary Shaun Tucker as the man who got me on the fasting train. I love his work!

You are worthy of love, respect, and happiness. You are capable of change, recovery, and growth. You are stronger than you think, and you can overcome anything.

I hope my story has inspired you, or at least given you some insight into what it’s like to live with and overcome BED. Thank you for reading, and I wish you all the best. ??

P.S. Thank you Lassie Zia, Karim Boktor, Hec Salgado, Felisa Moffat, Sabina Sulovsky and friends for all your support! Love you winners ??
