How far is the pin?
It’s a question we ask 18 times a round. I used to trust the yardage marker (the red, white or blue posts), sprinkler head or my caddie, thinking they were all pretty accurate measures. That was until one day several years ago, when I pulled a 7 iron out of the bag for what I thought was a 150m shot to the pin. My playing partner pulled out his new Bushnell and asked “do you want a read on that?”. To my dismay the laser distance was 178m! At least two, maybe three clubs difference if I wanted to get anywhere near.
That day I told myself to go out and buy a laser rangefinder or GPS watch. Well, it took me 5 years to pull the trigger. $500 seemed a lot of money to have to fork out for either option (especially if I play with someone else who has one!) until recently when MY GOLF SPY told me about the Best Value Rangefinder for 2018: Precision Golf NX7 Pro. At $349 I pulled the trigger at last and I love it. Lightweight, compact and easy to use.
The only downside is I can no longer blame inaccurate distances for my bad shots!
The Best Value Rangefinder of 2018 is now available in Singapore at Urban Fairways. It makes a wonderful gift for any golfer.
