How Far can your CCTV camera See?
I was often asked as an installer, or when I was working for a manufacturer "how far can the camera see" !
My answer was often the moon, sun or distant star! Then had to explain Sensor Size (Resolution), lens, Depth of field etc. and mention that a camera had to be installed to fit its purpose. Resolution, Lens Type, Wide Dynamic, Infra-red, thermal etc.
As part of training I was involved with, I Used an image that was taken from a 16 Mega-pixel camera with a Canon 800mm lens and a 1.2 Extender. The image of the moon is shown above, which shows the power of the Canon lens.
The Insert is a digital zoom, which shows the power of the 16 mega-pixel camera.
