How far ahead can I plan my Panama Canal transit?

The Panama Canal has very predictable maintenance periods which allows ship owners and operators to ascertain all avoidable delays for their upcoming transit. This schedule provides the information you need to know in advance about how long the maintenance periods will be for. Please contact us at [email protected] for the most up-to-date maintenance window schedule.

Now for the next step – which window to use?

Depending on the type of ship you have, and under normal transit conditions, there are two different sets of windows under which you can make a reservation for a guaranteed transit on a specific date (booking). Please contact us for this information to ensure you have accurate information.

Alexei’s Personal Tip!

?The transit conditions, type of vessel, cargo mix and local condition provide many variables that make planning the right window a real challenge. Do not try to “wing” it as the variables can change without notice during any given day. Rather, give us a call and let us help you navigate your schedule.

GAC Panama is well versed with the local Panamanian port authority rules and regulations regarding Panama Canal transits. Our management team is experienced in working all the aspects of the Panama Canal and can provide you with expert assistance pre your arrival, and when your vessel is ready to set sail.

For more information about how we can provide you with the support you need for a smooth transit, contact us at [email protected].
