How not to fail in your 2022 goals

How not to fail in your 2022 goals

We are at the beginning of 2022 and some of us are making our lists of goals, desires and experiences for the next 12 months.?Specifically,?37% of the 132 respondents to a blitz survey I did on LinkedIN say they make such lists of goals at the beginning of the year, while 46% say they do not have this interest, and 17% they declare themselves undecided.

The role of?coach with almost 10 years of experience?has shown me the importance of SMART goals, clear and emotionally relevant to people. The 20 years of experience in multinationals had already “trained” me in terms of business perspective on goals.?That is why this subject has become an issue for me to investigate.

What did I find out? Overseas statistics show that 64% of Americans drop their goals set at the beginning of the year in the first month. Slightly fewer, 43% of Britons, have the same type of behavior. It is worth mentioning that only 31% of Americans and 19% of Britons say that they have made lists of personal goals. And these are the data I found for 2021 on this topic.

It is even clearer now that?in order to achieve our goals, we need to plan carefully, act consistently, and review them regularly, as appropriate.?If you have decided that this year you do not want to be among those who do not complete their personal plans, here is what you need to do differently.

1. Make a plan in writing

In addition to the list of objectives, it is essential to make a clear action plan, in order to be able to tick each step, and to establish the frequency of evaluation of progress. By periodically noting progress, or lack thereof, you will be able to correct your attitude and actions in order to achieve your goals.

2. Visualize your success

Determination is an essential resource for success. Think, but especially feel inside yourself, that you deserve to succeed. You have to feel that the goals you have chosen are good for you and that you deserve everything that will bring them into your life. Don’t let anyone, not even you, take you away from your vision. Then live as if you have already received the benefits of your fulfilled desires. Feel the emotion that the achieved goal will give you so that you can materialize it.

3. Be aware of the importance of your goals

Achieving your goals can give you immediate or longer-term satisfaction, but you must always feel that you deserve the desired result. You have to really want to manifest your personal goals, Especially, you have to feel that everything that brings their fulfillment is for you.

4. Be 100% committed

Avoid finding excuses for your failures and do not put yourself in the position of a victim of fate. In order to stay focused on meeting your goals, you need to take full responsibility for your behavior and decisions. It sounds difficult, but that’s the only way you’ll be in control of your own life.

5. Be consistent

Setting a goal only on paper and postponing the action is often the equivalent of its demise. You should use energy and enthusiasm to set your goals and “fuel” action. And keep in mind that discipline is the highest form of self-esteem!

Take into account the things that help you achieve your goals and immediately correct any deviations from the plan. If you monitor these factors along the way, you will not be forced to take it from the beginning and you will not be tempted to give up. The experience and results already obtained will help you and motivate you to make further progress.

6. Keep your self-confidence

Think positive. If you disregard yourself and don’t believe in yourself, you probably won’t move forward the way you want to. Instead, your self-confidence and self-esteem will help you to persevere in order to achieve your goals.

7. Final recommendations

  • The motivation mechanisms will be maintained if, behind your projects and actions, you place an emotional dimension, a strong feeling that is constantly present with you.
  • External motivations (satisfaction, temporary rewards) should only be adjuncts to internal motivation.
  • When you feel that energy is running low, you need to stay focused on your goals and possible outcomes
  • Avoid procrastination of any kind and make your goals “missions” not to be abandoned, so that no doubt, no difficulty and no criticism will demotivate you.
